Relisted items counting toward monthly listings

Hey all!

I’ve been selling since about 2015, mainly in the trading card category.  I noticed just this month that my automatically relisted Good Til Cancelled items are counting against my 250 free listings.  I honestly don’t think that I’ve ever had this happen in the past, as I’ve accumulated over 2100 items on my page just using free listings for years.  Is this a relatively new policy? Would hate to have to end all these items after years of work.  I know that eBay says that relisted items count against monthly listings, but I really don’t remember that, unless I’m just a fool lol.  Anything helps! Thanks!

This is the way Good Till Cancelled has always worked, for more than 20 years, long before the 250 free was a thing and as well when it was 50 free and and even before ANY free listings existed.

If you only have 250 free listings, then the 1st 250 listings that are new or auto relisted in the month will all count against your free listings. That has been normal procedure for many years.

Been that way for several years.   On the seller home page you have a Promotional Offers Box that gives you a status report.  It looks like this.  Y

Yes, if you do not have at least a basic store, that is the way it works.  I am really surprised that it was not noticed in your fees.  A basic store will get you 1000 Store items and 250 auctions. They are counted separately.  In some categories you get a bonus of 10000 listings. I don't know anything about Sports Cards. However, much of my rollover goes into that 10000, and doesn't count in the 1000 listings.  Basically, if I had 1000 listings, I could list extra.  (Not sure I will ever have that many.)

I hope that made some intelligent rambling.

Just my Two Cents...
Thank you for being here!

So you just now noticed ? It has always been that way. Why would you think that if they relist for you they would not count it as one of your free listings ? As others have mentioned, get as store. It is costing you tons of $$ not having one. OK, I checked your listings and you have a very low sell-through rate. With that many listings you should be selling 10x more than you are. Maybe check your prices ? The way it is now it is costing you more to list and would cost you more for a store than it is worth. Changes are definitely in order for you to stop losing $$.

It relists on the same day of the month that you relisted it.  If it was listed on January 1 it would relist on February 1st.  If it was listed on Jan. 31 it would relist the last day of each month whether or not that month had 30 days.

On this account, you have a store, so you don't get the free 250,

So... previously, renewals counted towards your free monthly allotment. This is why I subscribed to the basic store. But I'm noticing the past few months, I've used nowhere near what I have listed. Which means, the renewals are not counting towards my monthly allotment anymore. Is this a recent policy change? or what gives here? I've essentially wasted over $150 on a store subscription this year because I thought I'd be using 400+ insertion-fee-free listings per month.

Been that ways since Hector was a  Pup.  See  when I started selling in 2008  paid for every listing.  Then  eBay  provided 50  free listings every month, then eBay increased the free listings for those that did not have a store a few. years ago.  Auto relisting for fixed price listings   been  around - yes  it counts against your "free" monthly listing.  YOU can cancel any listing before the new month allocation if you don't want to make it count against your allocation or get a store to increase your free listing allocation.  Yep eBay life  can seem unfair but it ain't.

FYI used to have to pay for every picture over 1 - now you have 12 pics for free (started in 2011 as I recall.

eBay wants you to sell more so you make some money and profit if you do they make more money too.

This guy says it best -  Personally been around since '44 - found that  life is not so difficult - just read and understand  and follow the rules/policies, regulations, etc.  If you played any sports  the have  rules,  break the rules your  penalized in some way.
