I cancelled an item that was paid for about an hour after the buyer paid, I want to refund the money through paypal but how do I refund it when I didn't receive the "full amount" ie paypal took out a CC fee and Ebay Charged Sales tax. I don't want to eat these fees since the transaction was cancelled. I see no way to get these fees back to send to the buyer? Thanks

Refund from the ebay transaction. There will be a choice to refund in full.

They are automatically refunded........so nothing you need to do........ That said, PP may not be refunding their fees....I'm not sure where they are now.......but they had previously said they would NOT refund fees on refunds, but then when the virus stuff hit, I think they walked that back temporarily.
Just a caution.......you really should cancel thru the ebay process (assuming the sale was on ebay)......that's the only way you can get YOUR ebay fees back without having to go thru a lot of rigamarole of having to call them. But if you use an out of stock reason, you will get an account defect.......

What kind of error did you get? No chance that it would work later? Or be fixable?

Why? You won't get your 3% Paypal fee back. Was this buyer error or remorse? When that happens I have told the buyer I would refund all but 13% through Paypal which covers my Paypal and Ebay fees to make me whole again.

We really need some additional details in order to help. How exactly did you cancel? Did they buyer request to cancel? Did they request within the first hour?

Hi there, I'm very new on cancelling orders from buyers and the amount they do this first hour cancellation happens more these day for me. I really do not want to eat up the Paypal fee as it's not my false at all. Now I'm wondering how's about the eBay part? Does eBay recognize the refund you've made via PayPal?

You're screwed on the PayPal fees. A few months ago PayPal changed their policy so even if you cancel and refund a buyer they still keep the fees they took from you. I think that's ridiculous, but it is what it is...
This week I've had the most cancellation requests I've ever had after buyers purchased and paid. They added up to over $30 in losses from the PayPal fees I don't get back. The worst part eBay won't really let you do a partial refund, you have to do it via PayPal and if you do it that way the transaction doesn't show up as properly cancelled or refunded on eBay, it just kinda hangs around in limbo.

No not really, it's between you and the buyer to agree to that. Ebay will be happy since they keep their fee and buyer should be happy since they still get most of their money back after making a stupid mistake.

the solution is simple, you need to have a friend send you some money in paypal.the reason the refund did not go thru is because you did not have enoough money in paypal, you are getting stuck for the fees and that is why you are short. It takes a few days to put money into paypal thru a bank, put some money back in the account and send a refund

If you are the seller and refund the buyer (by choice or if the buyer requests it) yes you will eat some of the fees for Paypal.
eBay and Paypal will credit you back the commission received from your transaction. However, as mentioned, you will not receive all of the PayPal transfer fees (keep in mind PayPal has now transferred money into you and then back to them).
I want to take a guess that it's 40¢ or so. That's the cost of canceling a transaction.

Wrong and Wrong. You will eat ALL of the Paypal fees. Someone buys your $300 item and pays for it, then decides they want to cancel, you're out $9.
