I have just accidentally deleted 40 items - how can I recover them - used to be no problem, but the means seems to have been removed?

Where did you delete them from? If they were in Drafts, I don't think you can recover them. If these were items that had been previously listed, just search for them on ebay in completed listings and relist from there.

I found this on the Singapore site but it would probably work on the .com too. (Haven't tried it.)

Hi there, thanks for your reply, but the link you sent (and thank you) is an old link that doesn't work anymore i.e. the 'deleted' option has been removed. This is the problem I am having with ebay's new set up - I don't know why they would decide to stop us retrieving deleted items, but for some reason they have, or are making it difficult for us to do so.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Sorry about that!

I don't see an option to delete. How did you do that?

I just got off the phone with the ebay customer support and they said there is no way to get deleted items back. I just lost 600 items because I was having to end, sell similar, delete in order to get views. I'm so mad right now. ebay made some serious screw ups this 4th quarter and I'm really beginning to wonder what it's viability is.
If I can't get these 600 listings back I will have to inventory my entire store. That's at least a month of my time, gone.

First, most of us have found that deleting/relisting is not necessary for sales...... Secondly, Ebay didn't make the mistake.......you did...... Certainly have sympathy....I've made plenty of mistakes also.......but don't agree with blaming Ebay...........

Did you check your completed items from the search view @sailinship?

To be more specific, I assume you are referring to an "Advanced search", not something on my seller hub page.
I did find them in the Advanced search function. Read my story, I explain it all. So far, it's the only way I've found to see them. But, at least I can see them, and see the date that they were ended.
It means I'm going to lose a month researching, and relisting each one of 2,800, but if I didn't have that, I'd be doing a FULL PHYSICAL INVENTORY of my entire store. That would take months and be a back breaking effort.
Why oh why can't ebay help?

What are you talking about? Where do you see that I "Blamed ebay". As far as my process, you're dead wrong. I can see a drastic uptick in "offers" to send, IMMEDIATELY after I relist. Try it. I know it's an old trick, I said that, and it was out of use for a while, but now it's back.
What I said about ebay's 4Q, was that they did a major overhaul, changed categories, search functions etc. and it's been dismal. But maybe that's just me, if not you, then great.
For instance, now, whenever I relist a book, it almost always gets changed to the "Textbook" category. There's more, but I'm done now.

Also, I'm not sure I did make any mistakes. I had a four sided die in front of me that I turned at every step to assure that I didn't make a mistake. I hit every button the way it was supposed to be hit, in order. If I did something wrong, it was not double checking, waiting for the upload time to resolve, and then moving on to the next step.
I wont be deleting ever again.
However, we use to be able to get deleted listings back.

Using the basic old school method of
Select 200 active listings
End those
Go to ended
Select all 200 "Ended" and then hit "SELL SIMILAR"
Then, since those are officially NEW listings now, with NEW item #'s, delete the old "Ended" listings.
And out of nowhere, for no reason, 600 did not re-list. 200 on Dec. 28th, when I called in and the rep gave me a case number and told me that the issue would be fixed by tech. (She merely gave me a number for the call and sent NO REPORT IN TO THE TECH DEPARTMENT.) and then 400 more on January 11th. I would not have even done that procedure if I thought that what they are telling me now was even possible, which is, that they can't get them back. It's insane, right? They cannot get them back.
I have now lost 600 RANDOM listings, and will have to do a FULL PHYSICAL INVENTORY. We're talking 6 months of my life gdone if you include all the time to list those, and now all the time to find, collect, and re-list them.
But wait, there's hope, because that night, January 11th, I found them. I did an Advanced Search, selected "Completed" and used the "By seller" function with my seller name, and there they were, amongst thousands of others, but at least I could go through them, one by one, cross referencing between my sold, and my actives, to assure that I'm not relisting something I no longer have, or a duplicate of what's already listed. Bummer, and a lot of work, but not as bad as a full physical inventory of everything I have online.
On January 12th I woke up to begin this process, and wallah, they were all gone. All that remained were my Green colored price amount SOLD listings. Yesteday I called a tech, got through to an American finally, and we ended a listing to see if it would show up. It did. And now today, it disappeared. Gone. ONLY SOLD LISTINGS WILL SHOW UP AS ENDED in that type of search for me now.
I'm beside myself with frustration. Never in the 20+ years that I've been on ebay has anything this bad ever happened to me. I just lost 6 months, at least, of my time and work. Yes, yes, I list slow, I know that. But a full physical inventory of 3000 items in different places in my warehouse is laborious and will take a long time, no matter how it's done.
I feel like this is more than a glitch perhaps. So anyone's experience with these types of issues is appreciated.

Ending and selling similar does increase views. When it's sold as similar it comes up as a new listing which generally puts it higher in ranking. Fact.
