How do I hire someone in my area to sell my stuff on eBay? I'm brand new to using eBay I don't know the steps to take to get this done.

It's unlikely you will find someone.

Most companies that would do that stopped because it was not profitable.

As you have learned, selling online is not easy.

The consignment seller would want to hold the item in her hands, and would be photographing and describing the item, uploading it, and paying fees for listing, some options, and shipping.

In addition she pays fees for payment processing.

The most usual rate for the work was 40% of selling price plus all fees.

If your item sells for $100, the seller would be giving you between $40 and $50 .

Most consignors found that too high. The sellers found that too low.

You need a tape measure, a digital scale, a scanner or digital camera.

Use the Advanced/Business Sell Your Item form, which is linked in the upper right corner of the terrible Simplified form. It is more clear about what you can and can't do.

And if you have any specific questions, the Seller Board has lots of experienced sellers, who love to give advice.

It's not worth it for both parties. If you are willing to take 35-45% of the eBay sale price, you might as well sell at the flea market. Not only are you going to give up a ton of money, but you have to wait for the items to sell. Most of the time the consignor will not be the lowest price because there isn't enough money to go around, so the items sit and wait to catch a big fish which could be never. I heard many stories of consignment shops and listing firms going out of business and keeping all the merch.
