Hello. It was hard to really describe my issue in the title. A buyer purchased a set of lug nuts from me. I have a ton of them in stock and had no problem filling the order. The only issue was that eBay was linking me to Royal Post when I was trying to print the shipping label. It even showed the buyers payment in euros as opposed to dollars as well as an extra charge for shipping. I then figuerd the buyer was overseas and I cancelled the order, giving him a full refund and explained that I can't ship to him.
Turns out the buyer was actually located in the states. I apologized to the buyer and offered to have the order sent out right away if he re ordered. I explained the issue I was having on my end but he said he purchased elsewhere. A few weeks later I recieve a negative review explaining that I thought he was in Europe.
I took a screen shot of what was happinging to me on my awaiting shipment page. It was pretty weird as I've never seen this happen any other time. I don't want to post it here due to some of the guys personal info being shown but I can show it to ebay directly.
Anyway I just think the negative feedback was a bit unfair considering it may have been a bug on ebay that caused this. Has anyone had a similar problem to this before? Is there any way I can dispute this feedback?

Would that have 100% solved my issue or is it possible the buyers ebay ship to address could have differed from the address on paypal?
No, the ship to address is always the same on eBay and on PayPal, as long as the buyer has completed payment. The ship-to address from the eBay checkout page is passed to PayPal and it becomes the ship-to address on the PayPal transaction when the buyer completes the payment.
Until then, there is no address visible in PayPal (because there is no PayPal transaction yet), but the buyer can change the ship-to address on eBay at any point up until they complete the payment.

So what address did the shipping label show?

A simple email to the buyer asking for clarification could have gone a long way.

Oh sure, all these great suggestions come up AFTER the damage is done. I mean, why would OP think of something like that, too? 🙂

The feedback was revised today (MAR-19) to "N/A".

Yes, I sent a revision request. The buyer agreed to switch the feedback to neutral.
I appreciate all the condescending comments lol. I normally check the address when I click the ship item option. The problem was that it was directing me to Royal Post and asking me to sign up for an account. I couldn't see any address info.
The cancellation occured because I had to get the item to the post office by 5pm that day and the buyer didn't respond in time. I didn't want to recieve a late shipment so I cancelled the order. Live and learn I guess.
Still maybe this here thread can give insight to someone who runs into the same issue in the future. I still don't understand why I was receiving info as if I was on a Euro version of the site or something. I use the same bookmark all the time to access eBay.

Was Paypal also forcing you to sign up with Royal Mail inrder to see the buyer's address?

That's a good suggestion. I should have checked with paypal. Thank you. I admittedly didn't in this case.

If eBay was taking you to Royal Post to purchase a label, that probably means that you were on eBay UK by mistake, www.ebay.co.uk. Or possibly eBay Ireland www.ebay.ie if you were seeing currency in Euros.
Did you check the URL to see what eBay website you were on, and did you try changing it back to eBay USA www.ebay.com?

No I didn't check the web bar but I did figure that was the issue after the fact. I panicked a bit because I had to leave with the item to make the post office on time. I can say I didn't handle this gracefully.
I can say for sure I used my bookmark to access the site, I do it every time. I'm not sure why I would have been linked to ebay uk but I won't rule out the possibility of a screw up on my end.
Thanks for the reply. I'll just give myself more time and be more thorough to avoid anything like this in the future. I appreciate all the advice.

Shipping to any address other than the one on the PayPal transaction negates your PayPal seller protection.

After the buyer pays on eBay, the ship-to address from the eBay checkout page is passed to PayPal and it becomes the ship-to address on the PayPal transaction.
So as long as the buyer has completed payment, the ship-to address on the eBay Order Details is ALWAYS the same as the ship-to address on the PayPal transaction. They can't be different.
