We have no idea what you're talking about without additional information. Give us a background of the events.

Have you contacted the buyer regarding that feedback? You can also send a feedback revision request to the buyer. If it is an error, don't worry about it. Miner glitches like that can happen. Leave it for 1 or 2 days; if the error still persists, contact eBay.

After looking at the reply you left to that FB, it looks like that ship has already sailed.

The item you received the neg from purchased your item on Nov 1st  (high bidder on your Auction).

Did you ship the item or not?

If you are looking to have eBay assist you and remove the feedback probably not the best idea to call eBay "idiots" in your reply to the feedback.

The current text of the neg says "it will stay as a negative" so I suspect that the OP already tried the feedback-revision route.

His rather lengthy reply ends with, "I am currently trying to get the idiots at eBay to understand their mistake" so I suspect that ship has sailed, too.

All this over a $20 item.

Also, the buyer mentions that the PO put it in the mailbox, but he never got it.

If he is saying there is tracking showing delivery, how could that happen if you never actually sold it to him?

This gets murkier and murkier.

There was no offer to buy as the OP says.  It was an auction with 5 bids.  Did you send it?

Title of your post:

"Received a negative feedback due to eBay error. How do I correct it?"

What do you mean you received a negative feedback because of eBay error? From reading the negative feedback you received, it looks like the buyer is complaining about how their post office put it in the mailbox but he never got it? How could it be "eBay's error"?

Once again, from reading the feedback, the buyer says his feedback will stay as a negative. So you must've sent him a feedback revision request but he declined or ignored it. Just some small advice - don't send a feedback revision until you get the buyer's problem solved.

Then you ask, "How do I correct it?"

Now I may not be correct, but from what I'm understanding, it was not your fault, but the post offices'. You can ask eBay for a negative feedback removal, but since you already responded to it, they may not remove it. But there's still a small chance.

Request feedback removal

Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

There have been several confusing features of this situation.

The OP (seller) claims he was not notified that he had a sale.

The buyer states the PO put it in the mailbox, but he never got it.

Still hoping the OP will return and offer a few details that will clarify the situation.

Hi @mrscaletoy

It looks like you sent a Feedback Revision Request to the buyer ... and they revised the Comment and let the negative rating stand.  [I didn't think it was possible to revise a FB with anything other than a positive ... but maybe the policy changed.]

It would have gone SO much better for you if you had remained calm and professional in your Reply.  The only reason to reply to a neg/neutral feedback is to show future buyers that it's safe to purchase from you.  When you call others names like jerk and idiots in your reply ... it only reinforces the idea that you deserved the original feedback.

If you already sent buyer the FRR like I suspect ... your only hope for feedback removal is convincing a CS rep to do it ... but I have no idea what you can possibly say at this point.

Good grief - if you're going to sell to the public, you need to act a little more professionally - That feedback reply does not reflect on your buyer (whose ID is redacted), but ALL OF IT reflects on you (not good).

If the buyer filed for an INR on an item where tracking shows 'delivered' by the USPS, your chance to fix this mistake with the "idiots" at eBay was then.  If not and the neg stands, then a professional reply would make this situation reflect well on you.  Doesn't ANYONE think ahead?

TBH, I would be too embarrassed to take this any further.  *If/when this happens again, stop and think before going off - it's a good lesson.

If it is as you say, ebay's error.  You don't correct it.  Ebay fixes it.  Contact ebay.

I would hate asking someone to help me if I had just called them an idiot.

OP -- did the item not sell with a high bid of $20.50 to this buyer?

Alternative reply:

Tracking shows item delivered XX-XX-XX. Not responsible if stolen from your mailbox. Contact your local Police or the USPS.
