Years back I used Ebay and was really impressed with the number of hits and quick sales. Recently I decided to get back into selling only to find the number of views over a 7 day period were single digits, and a few had zero views. After such a poor showing I turned to FB Marketplace, the views alone show a massive number of people are at least seeing my items.

Ebay has always been cyclical, and we are coming into the summer slump too. Of course, a lot depends on the items you are selling. If the category is oversaturated with millions of the same items, views and sales will be slow.

Not sure you can trust those number of views. I have seen them jump around some.

Take my advice, for what it's worth - turn off the view counter. It's NEVER been accurate, and if you don't see it you won't worry about what it may or may not mean. Turn it off, forget about it. Views mean absolutely nothing. I've sold many items that supposedly had zero views.

Years back, everything was different with every e-commerce site and with the buyers and sellers who use them.
Whether or not eBay is still a good fit you depends upon what you're selling, how you're pricing it, what profit you must see, on your expectations for personal satisfaction, et cetera.
Even if the numbers were accurate, and they are not, Viewers and Watchers mean very little
If you have specific questions, people here can answer them for you, though.

My mid 2023 resolution is to stop obsessing over clicks and views. The world (On ebay) is changing.
Blame it on the end of Covid. Blame it on the economy. Blame it on the flood of material for sale.
Blame it on the stars and moon being out of alignment. Blame it on a summer slump.
The fact of the matter is simple. All my stats are down 30-40% from 2020-2021 and most of 2022 My sales are down by a full 34% from 2 years ago.
I'm listing more than ever and buying at a steady pace to keep up with making the new listings. I'm watching
the dollar amount of listings I have running increase while the % of sale is dropping.
We all better find a way to adjust to the new norm. Good times might come back, But I bet not too soon.

Views are only people, not Search Engines, and stay for only 30 days, not permanently as they used to.
So what you are seeing is the number of potential customers who actually looked at your listings, rejected them, and moved on.
That goes for both eBay and FB Marketplace.
Unless you are using a posting account, at the moment you have two buying FB both over 6 months old, and no listings.
It's hard to sell when you don't have anything on the counter.
BTW- Facebook Marketplace was supposed to be charging for selling when June rolled around. Since you are listing there, what are the charges?

I HEAR YA.

As I have said it is 3 things.
1. Its Ebay. Ebay does have site problems that affects buyers and sellers. Undeniable.
2. Its the Economy. People are more selective with less money for both necessities and optional things.
3. Its what a seller sells.
In your case you have a rather narrow niche which are very optional items. So while ebay site issues hit all sellers, you are also really hit by 2 and 3.

I think it's been an awefully slow week for us all.

eBay is now a ghost town for 1000s of sellers. In the last 2 months, I had 8 sales & nothing in June, yet. I have a 63 year old BSA banner listed & no views after 10 days. I guess multiple 1000s of Scouts' collectors stopped collecting or quit searching on eBay? You are correct about Marketplace. Views are massive compared to eBay. Not to mention the views on FBM are more local. eBay is worldwide. lol FBM helps prove our items are not unwanted junk. 🙂 Best of luck!

Years ago.......ebay was almost the only game in town, except for Amazon and a few other smaller places.....takes more effort/savy/research today than it did.........

I've gone from $2000 in sales a month to less than $1000...democrats in office which equals a bad economy, summer time or ??? I don't know but this is the worst its been in several years for me anyway. Of course I always look at what I have for sale, amount selling for, etc. Always look inward first; but its just bad bad bad...as far as sales go...
