Rating Tool

Is anyone else upset with how they rate us? They don't go by 18 yrs with them and 100% perfect feedback is what I think should count as Top Rated. Situations occur once in a while an item gets damaged and a priced put in wrong or can't locate an item. If it only happens once in a while I do not think we should be getting knocked down to above standard. If happens a lot yes I would under stand. But 4 issues out of 800 does not make sense to lose your status. I think they need to be more understanding and work with sellers. It is too technical I put in 3 appeals it is like wasting time. It is like they are really trying to deter people from selling. So I was promoting 4400 items now I stopped because they are taking more in fees now that I am Above Standard. It almost wants me to say give it up. This transition defect needs to be updated to reality mode and work with the sellers. Anyone else going or have gone thru this what is your out come? Thanks

Re: Rating Tool

There is one guarantee in life.  Things change.  In 18 years you could have gone through many changes.

I know for me that what I started selling some 25 years ago is not the same thing I sell today.  I've changed over those years.  So while you may be a solid seller all that time, meeting the requirements to be TRS should be a piece of cake.  The requirements to be TRS just aren't that hard to achieve.

Fees DO NO increase for Above Standard sellers on Ebay.  The increase for BELOW Standard sellers.

I always recommend that sellers always monitor their Seller Dashboard.  If you do that, you are less likely to get surprised by problems like this and often can head them off.

If your account is Below Standard, you can't promote listings at all when you are at this status.  If your account is Above Standard but you no longer qualify for TRS, you can still do promoted listings if you want.

Review your Seller Dashboard closely.  What are your 4 defects for exactly?

Re: Rating Tool

I'm so sorry but I could not disagree with you more. As an online seller you have a responsibility to conduct your transactions to the best of your ability. It is NEVER understandable to say, "once in a while an item gets damaged and a priced put in wrong or can't locate an item." You are taking other people's money; you have committed to sell them that item they purchased. There is no justification for any of those situations you said without taking the hit as the seller. Again, I am sorry for your issues but if you choose to sell items online, it is YOUR responsibility to have your ducks in order- at all times. Best of luck to you....

Re: Rating Tool

Yes well said.  And not to mention if the 4 defects are due to INADs, that would mean that the OP did not resolve those claims, Ebay had to step in to resolve them.  That a seller should never allow that to happen.  Sellers should always resolve their INADs.  It is too dangerous to the health of our accounts to do otherwise.

Re: Rating Tool

I think a long-term reliability metric would be a positive addition to how sellers are rated.

Shorter term metrics basically indicate either steady performance, or that some kind of problem is developing.  But in terms of past performamce usually being a good indicator of future performance, on ebay that holds true.  Considering they get rid of sellers who aren't even violating policies, a certain clothing snd shoe seller on youtube now on a different platform, for example.  Or if you miss a call from them you dont know is coming, to verify your account info, they send you a permanent ban letter.  Or if they have a problem with a 3rd party you have the thinnest connection to they don't like, you're gone.  Considering it doesnt take much to ban a seller, long term good track records should be factored in to the overall ratings.

Re: Rating Tool

4 out of 800 is fantastic. I buy online from Amazon.  Amazon is great but their percentage of damaged items or not as described is way higher than yours based on the 149 items I purchase a year. Hang in there & good job.

Re: Rating Tool

The past does not really matter. You need to keep up with whatever the job demands.  It's the same in business. It does not matter that you sold the most in your company the last 10 years. Your boss wants to know what you sold this year.

Take better control of your inventory. Do not start anything else until you know that you have it and where you stored.   Do great work. In a month , ebay will rate you again.  They rate every month.  Goodluck.

I actually just ended a listing the other day because I wasn't 100% sure where I have it stored at the minute (it's a small item that could be in one of a whole bunch of boxes). Once I reconfirm exactly where it is, THEN I'll list it again.
