Sold a $1,000 amplifier and shipped it, eBay cancelled the sale, banned the buyer and told me to get the item back if possible. I intercepted and got it back, I talked to eBay twice and they said I could deduct the shipping cost of 239$ which is just shy of covering the label and intercept. The buyer has filed a dispute with his bank and my only options are provide proof of delivery or accept dispute and lose the $239. I replied to dispute explaining all of this and added proof of everything I said. Anyone been in similar situation and how did it play out? Thanks

His odds of winning the chargeback for full refund are very good since you don't have any tracking evidence.

I mean the buyer didn't necessarily do anything wrong. He wants his money back that eBay blocked the sale of and had you intercept.

You might have to take the L here. I'm not sure which support you talked to but I'd try talking to eBay at www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness

I understand him wanting his money back. I think eBay should take the L on this one, I did what they told me to do I don’t see why I should be out $250. Hopefully someone at eBay understands that, why tell me to do something and then not back me up.

I understand your frustration, and it would have almost been better if you didn't intercept it. However, that could open up the potential of not getting items and being out all the money.

Yeah, use Facebook support. They aren't from the outsourced call center and are more trained for complex situations.

eBay is very good at not taking the L.

I have to agree with adwest23 on this one. This is eBay's issue and is possibly covered under the chargeback seller protections. I would contact eBay through the FB connection. EBay is never going to tell you why they canceled the order, banned the buyer and told you to retrieve the item. But eBay should be able to provide that information to the CC company. There is no reason you should loose this but I suspect it is going to be a complicated mess to handle.

Appeal it, if the chargeback goes against you...........ebay would have had to cover the entire amount had you not recalled it.....since they ok'd the sale (assuming you mailed to the address given and insured it)........they are on the hook for it (or should be according to seller protection).......

Exactly my thoughts, I’d be covered for entire amount if I left it alone. I don’t see why I’d lose out for doing what they told me to do. I’ve never appealed a decision or had eBay step in for anything but I will for this one.
