I have listed a group of Rainbow Brite Sprites multiple times; the item sells and each time the buyer does not pay. This seems unusual. Is there something weird going on with this particular item?

That's true, but for mass-produced items that are also available from other sellers, the seller can anticipate a reasonable fixed price.
Agreed for commodity items BIN is the best for sure. My point was there is no one best model it depends on what the individual is selling. I seldom buy on eBay these days simply because for commodity items I can almost always find it cheaper elsewhere either at a local retailer or through another ecommerce site and with Amazon especially I can often have it in the same day since there is a distribution center less than 3 miles from my house. Competition has diversified buyers across multiple ecommerce platforms eBay no longer has the quai monopoly they once had.

I've been seeing this a lot lately too. I've had a phone up for months. A newer ebayer with very little feedback bids on it, wins it and never pays, just like now, my item has a bidder with 0 feedback on a 2.5 year old account, it'll end without payment. I think people have throwaway accounts used to tie up items so that someone else's sells in the meantime. eBay needs to change how this works. It should be setup that the payment is automatic at the end of a auction just like how buy it now works. It'll stop a lot of this bidding and never paying.
That option/feature is being worked on and is in test phase. Not sure when it will, or if it has gone site wide for auctions but you can try enabling it in your account settings. See my previous post on how to do this.

@rbcbtoys wrote:Yes I realize that. I'm not normally impatient but this has happened twice before with this item; I'm starting to wonder if there's some kids game on tictok or something. 😊
@rbcbtoys Some items for some reason attracts sport bidding. I had a similar problem with a set of Beats headphones for parts or repair.
If this person doesn't pay, you've got a ballpark now for how much this item lot will go for, and I'd just name your price, immediate payment required and leave it at that. The auction that will somehow magically have a bidding war and go for more than you think it is worth is pretty rare, though I know it can be tough to determine price on some things so sometimes it's worth a go.

All that that does is force them to have a payment method, it doesn't force payment, like I'm suggesting. I have both those checked already. Like when you hit submit for a bid, you agree to the terms that at the end, it's automatically pulled from your account, not like how they currently have the option to pay or not.

Thanks; these are good suggestions. And, there's been a Christmas miracle; they did pay! And this third sale was for considerably more than the first 2 unpaid sales! Ho ho ho!

I suspect Murky and Lurky. Listing as fixed price set to require payment right away will stop most of that.
