REVISE AUCTION

trying to revise or add to a description to one of my auctions or any as far as that goes. when i click update i get this error;

It looks like there's a problem with this listing.

  • Business policies - The return policy cannot be changed or removed if an auction-style listing has a bid or ends within 12 hours, or a fixed price listing has a pending Best Offer.
  • iam not trying to revise return policy. iam trying to add to description. have been using this return policy for years or at least as long as ebay made me. i know you cant revise a auction after a bid but you can add to descrption.   any help would be appreciated

Re: REVISE AUCTION

Hi, there are also time constraints on auction listings. Below is the link to the Revise a Listing help page and it spells it all out in detail. Hope this helps.

Re: REVISE AUCTION

It may have something to do with the June 1 changes to return policies. our listing may have a restocking fee or has return policy verbiage that has been deprecated by eBay and the listing form is getting confused.

Something like that was happening with Turbo lister users the last few days, and the solution was to do an "empty" revision to the listings to allow eBay to purge the conflicting data fields. (no longer allowed return policy verbiage and/or restocking fees)

Using the SYI form, maybe ignore changing the description and try revising the listing but make no changes, save that revision, and see if that fixes it when you try to revise again. If that won't fly, try the Bulk Editor "make no changes" approach as dollybeauty suggests below.

Re: REVISE AUCTION

As a last resort, have someone ask you a question so you can post the answer, although that's fairly useless now after they changed them to be hidden until you go to ask a question.

Re: REVISE AUCTION

Generally, 14 day returns are no longer allowed (only certain categories are allowed this)  and re-stocking fees are no longer allowed.

You can find more info on this in the Summer Seller Updatge 2018.

Re: REVISE AUCTION

its seems to have had something to do with who was going to pay for returns. i had stated that buyer pays for returns but with the june 1 mandate as soon as i said on any of my newly listed items that seller pays returns! every thing now works about as good?? as it previously did. dont know how a person is supposed to keep up with all of ebays new mandates when they change tings constantly..now wounder we cant sell anything anymore the buyers cant figure out how to use the site. thanks for the help you were the only one that really addressed the the problem.

>>but with the june 1 mandate as soon as i said on any of my newly listed items that seller pays returns!

The 2018 Summer Seller Update requires Free Returns (seller pays for returns) only if you want that listing to be TRS+ and be eligible for the 10% FVF discount. You do not have to offer free returns if you don't want to.

>>dont know how a person is supposed to keep up with all of ebays new mandates when they change tings constantly.

To keep up with major announcements of policy change like the Spring, Summer and Fall Seller updates, if you don't get an email from eBay*, you need to check https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/, check the boards here, or check the eBay announcements page http://announcements.ebay.com/

Major changes have been and will probably continue to occur 3 times a year.

*I got an email from eBay announcing the Spring Seller Update, but not the Summer, although I did get an email in May with the subject "The 2018 Seller Update and where you stand with service metrics" which would have set off alarms that there was a Summer update if I wasn't well aware of it already from reading these forums. Last year got a spring and Fall update email, but again no summer.

Anyway, sounds like you just got caught in the transition. Glad you got the issue resolved.

Same thing is happening on my auction style listing... why has this issue not been addressed on eBay's back end?
