Hi all,
Looking for advice on a return issue as I have never dealt with returns before. My policy is no returns accepted and clearly listed in all of my auctions. I put a lot of effort in the pictures and description of my auctions as to minimize any need for returns and answer potential buyer questions promptly during the auctions.
After purchase, buyer requested return through ebay saying that the fit of the shoe was too tight, although the size was correctly listed along with detailed photos of the item and size. The shoe was used but hardly worn at all.
Pros/Cons of doing return vs rejecting the return? I honestly feel the item was perfectly described with the size identified in the title of listing and my policy on not accepting returns was also very clear. But at the same time, dont want to receive negative feedback. Any advice?
One other factor is for the shipping, I always have buyer pay shipping almost always use priority mail as its most convenient for me. I accidentally underestimated the weight of the package prior to shipping so the shipping fee charged to the buyer was also underestimated, I paid the difference myself (few extra dollars). So the buyer was already given a good deal on shipping as I paid the extra out of pocket. Does this matter at all?
Thanks!

Accept the return, but the buyer pays shipping to return it.

So after I accept the return, what happens? Does the buyer then have to ship the item to me and then the return is processed only when I receive the item? Is there a time limit on this on the buyers end?

Tell buyer even though you do not accept returns for remorse (does not fit is remorse) you will accept it in this case, but he needs to pay shipping.
Have him open case. Once opened he has 5 days to return the item.
Only after item is returned to you, refund him.

Thanks for the advice. The case is already initiated by the buyer. It seems like the first option eBay gives is to "accept the return" and the note below it says buyer will pay for return shipping. That's about it, correct?
Any issue with the fact I paid more for shipping than the buyer was charged originally due to a underestimation of the weight of the package? Or does that not matter for the return?

Unfortunately saying you don't take returns doesn't hold much stock with eBay. Customers can pretty much return everything, but it certainlly doesn't mean you have to pay for shipping.
Should they open a return that asks you to pay for shipping, contact CS and show them that the reason is it doesn't fit and they may be able to help you get a return with the buyer paying.
Good Luck And Happy New Year.

Keep in mind it's five business days. Which usually equates to a week if there's no holiday involved.

Water under the bridge. Buyer paid what was stated in the listing. That is all he is required to do.

Not sure how your account is set up for issuing refunds, mine is a bit different but I think by default you should be able to keep the original shipping charge you charged them when they bought the item. So if you paid more for shipping than you charged them, that's your bad and you can't recouperate that loss. You can only keep what you charged them for shipping, nothing more.

You will not get that extra shipping cost since it was not the buyer's fault that you underestimated the weight/charge.

There won’t be an issue with that. And when you issue the refund you can refund the item price only. The buyer may change his mind about returning when he realizes he’s losing shipping both ways.

ebay has pretty much automated the return process. Hit return for refund and wait. When the item gets back - and that means any item in any condition, once delivery confirmation confirms that something made it back to you - then you can go to a page and give them the refund. AND there is an option to keep original ship costs.
Now, you should be made aware that there are lots of buyers out there that will happily target No Returns sellers and complain about a 'problem' (that usually isn't there) in the hopes that the seller will just give them a refund and let them keep their items. In those cases, the seller usually doesn't get anything back - especially if the buyer has to pay more to ship the items back to you than the refund will be. So after 5 business days with no tracking from the buyer - you can call ebay and have them close the request as buyer unresponsive.
Also, you should look into Priority Flat Rate padded envelopes. I have shipped size 9 mens shoes in them.

What reason did he list in the case for return? IF he said doesn't fit you are good. IF he said NAD ebay will send him a prepaid label (you will be charged). Upon return you will have to refund him in full, shipping included. If he figures out he is losing shipping both ways he may go to paypal. In paypal he will only pay return shipping. A charge back is also possible if he paid with his credit card. Most of the time a no return policy is worthless. Sellers have a hard time winning on ebay.

The OP reports that the page on the request states that the buyer pays return shipping, that is never offered on a not described dispute.
