I am looking to run this promotion on selected items.. My question is if a buyer purchaes a $10 item and then gets 5 additional items at $5. If they return the $10 should they get $10 back ?? In my opinion if they Return ALL the items they get full purchase price refunded... If they return the Highest Priced item they should get the 50% off Price refunded to them as they were "taking advantage of the promotion" Trying to figure this out before I run this

They are still going to average the cost.
They spread the discount over the total number purchased.
$10 + $25 = $35
6 items = $5.83 each
Yes, that is how it is going to work.
Otherwise, the buyer could (technically) get the discount without purchasing the $10 item.

EBAY return system is automated and not setup to do what you want. If customer returns the $10 item you will be forced to refund $10.

So basically, a person can get the items 1/2 off by returning the 1st item...

That is not correct information.
I use buy one get one half off all the time. They average the cost of the items and if someone returns something they only get the average of the cost of the items they buy.
If they buy one at $10 and the second at $5.00 then the average is $7.50 and they get that back if they only

Ok. I get the Buy One Get One 1/2 off scenario. That is logical... My concern is Buy one get each additional 1/2 off.
You buy a Blue Shirt for $10 and the Buy 5 Red Shirts @ $5... Then you return the Blue shirt...
You are saying that the customer will only get $5.83 back for the Blue shirt??

I have about 20 yearbooks for Winston Cup Racing. In the description box I have:
Buy 1 or two $10.00 each
3 to 4 $9.00 each
6 tp 7 at $8.00 each.
I use the same system for everything. But it hasn't been working.
Sorry you can't see for yourself as I am getting ready to take time off to take care of my brothers estate.
When I finish with that, I will try one more radical idea and try to sale off everything.
I wish everyone success and increase sales.

That makes perfect sense.... My concern is that someone would purchase the first item and 20 1/2 off items and return it for the full amount.. Thanks
Side note: eBay really needs a "test mode" where you can buy from yourself and see how these things work...
