Question for sellers...

If you don't mind me asking some sellers, how many items do you have listed and how manys sales do you have a day/week?

I have about 150 items listed and average maybe 2-3 sales a day, which is fine.  Ebay is just a hobby for me.

Is that about right or is that considered high or low?

Re: Question for sellers...

There is no correct answer to this, except to say that as long as your sales meets your needs, you're doing okay. It all depends on your business model.

Walmart's business model counts on moving a lot of merchandise at low price, with low profit margin on each item. A jeweler on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills selling Rolexes, on the other hand, has a model that involves selling few items, but at high price with high profit margin. Both work in theory, but you can't hold them to the same number of units sold in a week.

There are a lot of different business models on eBay, too.

Re: Question for sellers...

If you are happy with those sales, then that is just right for you.

If you are selling cars, then 150 listings and 2-3 sales per day would be considered a lot 🙂

But seriously ...

If you are maintaining a constant level of 150 listings and you are selling 60-90 items a month, I would say that is excellent. I'd kill for that sell-through rate.

Re: Question for sellers...

if it's 2 or three sales a day and the items are 2$ sales.. I would not be satisfied..I would be more content by setting some sales as a dollar amount, monthly as a goal, not necessarily number of sales..

Re: Question for sellers...

Not sure why you would ask or why you would care. There are sellers with 10 items listed and there are sellers with 10,000 items listed. On a side note, with 150 items listed and you are selling 2-3 items a day I would say your sell-thru rate is higher than most. Your items must be in demand and priced correctly. Glad to hear you cannot claim Ebay hides your stuff.

Re: Question for sellers...

The sell through rate - for the last few years - I sell 5% of what I list.  10 or 100, I will sell about 5% over the year.  In the beginning - way way back in the 90's 2000 - I sold 93% sell trhough - now I stay at 5% - stinks - but I try to use any and all promos since I realize all I will sell is 5% - don't waste the money on listing fees anymore.  If you are selling 2-3 items a day - that is an excellent sell thru rate for you!

Re: Question for sellers...

It depends on so many factors. Price point for one. If you only sell 10 a month but they are all $500 items, well some would be happy with that.

I sell higher prices items so the sales are relative to that price. I sell about 30 a month based on a listing number of about 220.  I'm quite happy at that level.

Re: Question for sellers...

Your sell-through rate and # of items sold are higher than mine. My gross sales $ and net profit are much higher than yours.

What are you trying to accomplish on eBay?

I have between 90 to 100 items listed at any given time . Most range in price between 12 to 17 dollars on my jewelry ,, antiques are higher  . During the peak seasons , Christmas , Valentines day , Halloween  and Mothers day  I have made up to 100 dollars in one day on my jewelry  . During the off seasons like now  I'm selling about  4 to 5 items a week . I just made 3 sales in the last 2 days ,, so its beginning to improve . Tulips
