Question about insertion fee -- need clarification from the ebay help page

Hello ebay community.

I have a question that might have been answered before but I do not see it anywhere else and I wanted clarification from the ebay help page.

So I understand that I am allowed to list 40 items and the 41st item will incur a charge ($1.50 per month if its under $100). My question is, what if in some of the items I have listed, I have multiple copies of the item? Does each copy count towards the item or not? I do not appear to be getting charged and I do not see any "insertion fees" come up in any of my account information or anywhere on my ebay page, but I wanted to double check in case I get a rude awakening in a months time and get charged for the fact that I have multiple copies of some of the items. And for the things I am selling (National Geographic Magazines), they are a very slow selling item, and plus I am new to selling so still have a reputation to build before I can inrease my volume of items up on ebay, so I am not at liberty to be charged for an insertion fee at the present time.

What I see on my ebay summary page is confusing me a little bit and making me worried so I hope to have this clarified.

I see this on the left column:

Totals

Current
Listed 40
Will sell 0
Bids 0
Amount AU $0.00
Sold (last 60 days)
Listed 3
Sold 3

But then at the top I see:

Your June selling activity:
Items Amount
You have sold  2

You have listed (active)  53
You can list  45

Out of 100

So 53 includes the fact that 13 of my items I have duplicates of the same item. I wont get charged for that will I?

Sorry if this is really obvious, I just want someone to confirm this for me so I don't have to worry about it.

Thank you.

ps. This is what I see from the help section on ebay:

"Insertion fees are charged per listing and are non-refundable. (As with a newspaper advertisement, you pay this basic listing fee even if your item isn't sold.)"

The fact that they bolded per listing makes me think that I am safe, but I wanted to double check with others.

Yes,  a multi-item fixed price listing will use only one of your free insertions.  If you set up a fixed price listing with 5 items and another with 6 items, you have used 2 of your free insertions.

Re: Question about insertion fee -- need clarification from the ebay help page

Thank you so much for the clarification. That is very helpful. However, now I have another question...

I just tried to see what would happen if I listed another item (list 41) and for my first 40 listings, I always noticed on the right hand column it say:

Listing fees
Insertion fees:
Free
Total:Free

However, even for the 41st item I was about to list, it still has the above setup (i.e. free insertion). Is there a reason for this? I notice on my ebay main page that there appears to be a promotion at the bottom that I never noticed before that seems to suggest I have 10 free more listings? Is that so say that for this month I can put 10 more ads and I won't get charged an insertion fee?

What happens if none of my items sell (i.e. I use the free insertion fee for this month and put 10 extra ads to bring my total ads listed to 50), will I then be charged an insertion fee in July for the 10 items that are free for this month?

Thanks again for your help.

Re: Question about insertion fee -- need clarification from the ebay help page

You are in Australia, this is the US board ...........and your listings are not showing up to me in the US....meaning they are only showing up in Australia because you don't ship here.....and you likely can't ship internationally until you reach a certain sales level.

I''m saying all this, because you're new..........and because rules can be different in the US from other countries.....they may be the same, but I'm not sure.....and so I suggest you ask on the Australian Board.......just google ebay Australia and you should find a link.

Re: Question about insertion fee -- need clarification from the ebay help page

Oh I am so sorry... I am that much of a newbie that I didn't even realize this was the US ebay message board. I will ask this on the Australian ebay. And strange that my listings don't show up internationally. I have put in the ability for international shipping but you make a good point about maybe I need to be at a certain level before I can sell overseas.

Thank you!
