I know they advertise on Facebook and sometimes on the radio. In order to reach the youngest generations they need to reach out them. So eBay can you let us know?

IDK, but a few months ago, I was getting eBay ads on podcasts.

So I posted this question a few months ago. It seems to me that eBay is putting all the eggs in the basket of promoted listings without advertising to the outside world. My sales are still doing ok, but views continue to be way down the last 2 months.
For the categories I sell the most (vintage clothing (including hats), shoes) the younger generations do not choose to go to eBay first. eBay I feel assumes a lot of things, including it is built and they will come. Not true. So again, are there any plans for advertising???

@natoman777 ebay has a presence on many social media sites, and they do use it for marketing. However, from what I've seen, much of that marketing is focused on the Focus Categories.
And, I think ebay has been pretty clear that their intention is to continue to market the Focus Categories, and the rest of us supposedly benefit from this because a person buying an expensive watch buys other stuff here too.
My personal opinion is that this marketing strategy is a huge mistake, especially in the face of the enormously increased (and ever increasing) competition ebay faces. Combine that with ebay's misplaced over -reliance on Promoted Listings to increase sales velocity, and you've got a company that is likely to continue to lose market share at a rapid clip.

@onlinecentral I'm aware that we sellers can use EPN and we can use social media. I believe the question was : what is ebay doing on social media to promote the site, not what can we as sellers do.

I've seen ads on TV for Etsy, Poshmark, and Mercari, and some ads for Ebay Motors on other media.
I think Ebay needs to get in the game.

Twenty years ago, users enrolled in Paypal and gave Paypal their eBay username and password.
That enabled Paypal to put a payment link in the eBay sellers listings.
Would you trust eBay with your social media passwords so they could advertise on your social media pages?
Until that gets implemented, us sellers need to help ourselves by clicking on a few things.

Please, everybody, stop tagging me when you reply to my post. Putting the @ symbol in front of my user ID, is unnecessary and annoying.

@natoman777 Here's a link to ebay's Twitter account: https://twitter.com/eBay?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
Not all the posts are about the Focus Categories, but this will give you some idea of ebay's social media marketing efforts

I realize that if you are on different social media platforms you can do your own "advertising" and promoting. I am actually not on any social media, but my wife is. My main concern is about what eBay the company is doing not individual eBay sellers. More commercials on TV, Youtube, etc... would be helpful as well as social media sites.

Ya they are focused on certain demographics... just like the eBay homepage. Need a broader approach in my opinion

The question is, is EBAY advertising on these social outlets, not are WE advertising on them. eBay's social media campaign - where is it? Facebook is a fading resource - are they representing on more current SM?
Don't understand the upset with tagging but, whatever. 🤔
