I have returned to EBAY after a 5 year absence. I have mostly listed commercial foodservice equipment in the past 15 years and since returning last month its been the same equipment (mixers ovens etc).
I have received approximately 15 emails with questions, all fraudulent buyers (please give me final price, condition of equip, text me only because I don't check Ebay account much)
Is this the new Quality of EBAY - just scams or maybe just the category I am listing equipment in (usually 2k-10k)?

1) they see you as a new or low activity Seller and thus a scam target
2) internet crime is on the rise as the industry grows ... criminals have figured out that they won't go to jail if they steal on line ...

Yeah there's a few more sharks circling in the waters these days. But you should be ok as long as you don't get out of the cage.

You are creating most of your problem.
Besides the fact you have low feedback and are listing items worth thousands....
your listings contain your Phone Number.
You need to 'check' your eBay account regularly.
You need to remove your phone number so scammers can't contact you fraudulently outside of eBay.
Thanks
Lynn

As a seemingly new seller, selling outrageously expensive equipment, you are a sitting duck for scammers..Im surprised you havent received more bogus 'offers'.

Question Askers ask questions, try to get you speak on the phone, text them, or email them to distract you.
Any communication these ways is most probably a scam.
You will get fake emails from Paypal saying you received a payment.
All communication has to go through the eBay Message Center.
If you receive a message to make any change to the Paypal Verified address, refuse and cancel the sale by selecting "Problem with the Customer's Address" for the reason.
Buyers Send PAYMENTS. That is the distinction between Question Askers and Buyers.
Verify on the All Items Sold or else Items Awaiting Shipment screens on the eBay side.
Verify on the History screen in Paypal.
The rules have changed in the past five years.
Get into compliance and remove ALL contact information from your listings.

Have you ever seen what a big enough and determined enough shark can do to that cage? 😮
