I've had a few buyers that want to buy multiple BIN items. I have offered discounts on the items or shipping. The buyers don't seem to know about the Cart. In the past, that's where I've been able apply a discount for the item prices and/or shipping. Other than using the Cart, is there some method I can explain to them to make their purchase. I don't want them to BIN three items requiring three packages.
Is it me who is missing something here? Is there some other method for a buyer to purchase several items and have them grouped into one purchase?

It's easiest for both buyer and seller to suggest using the ADD TO CART option on the listing. Just make sure you don't have Immediate Payment Required. Once all items are in the Cart, the buyer selects the REQUEST TOTAL option. You can then place all items into your package, weighs it, and then send an Invoice to the buyer.
The other option is to let the buyer purchase all the items, but NOT PAY immediately. The buyer then sends the seller a message asking for an Invoice for combined shipping. The seller then place all items into your package, weighs it, and then send an Invoice to the buyer.
OR, in your Site Preferences you can tell ebay to simply ADD THE WEIGHTS together in order to calculate the shipping cost.

Once all items are in the Cart, the buyer selects the REQUEST TOTAL option.
That does not always work. When it does not, it is beyond annoying.
If one of the items is on sale, it won't work. Even if the seller proclaims they combine shipping you often get an error message saying the seller does not combine and directs you to pay individually for your items. It seems if one or more items has the "super secret invisible to anyone" applied IPR awarded by ebay, the cart won't work.

Also, I seem to recall seeing other threads that stated people using the mobile app can't request total. That's nuts.

Requesting combined totals and sending invoices is only available from the website. Not available on the app. (Real hassle navigating the website from an ipad.)

I went into paypal and pulled data showing how my buyers buy: Most use their mobile device & app. And many buy multiple items. What ends up happening? They buy them all then request the shipping refund difference on the total. I’m used to it now of course, but It makes for a lot of back and forth transactions over multiple platforms (paypal) that is crazy!

The Add to Cart and especially the Request Total options are not the easiest things to find. In fact, you must begin Checkout to get to the Request Total screen. Every time I use it when buying, I always fumble through. PayPal says my sales are about 2/3 web and 1/3 mobile. That may explain why some of my many repeat customers can never get the Cart to work. In some cases, I think they just can't find the appropriate buttons to press.

It turns out that may be the problem. The buyer has sent me screen shot of what he sees on his end (phone). There's a Go to checkout button. Apparently it does nothing. Could be his phone though.
