I was thinking how to defeat these people who claim Item Not as Discribed.
I have a few item over 400 dollars and read tons of horror stories of Buyers pulling a fast one on the Seller and Ebay taking the buyers side.
Ebay told me i have to file a police report and hopfully took pictures of me putting the item in the Box if someone claims Item Not as Described.
How about i do this instead :
1. Buyer buys my 1,000 dollar item.
2. Now i take the item to the post office and film the item showing No defects. Front, top, back and sides of an unopened box. close up shots. The works.
3. Then i film myself placing the item in the box for shipping. Seal the box and applying the shipping label.
4. i contunine to film myself on line until i get to the USPS windows still showing it is the same Box with the item inside. They see the USPS worker taking the package. Undamaged, etc.
I'll use a hidden camera filming if i have too.
What do you think of this tactic ?
Say customers gets the item and claims this Item Not as Discribed. But now i have this video. Plus customers shows the box is opened when i clealry showed it sealed when i shipped it ( close up shot ) while filming.
I show ebay the video file or just upload it to youtube for them to see.
Who wins ? i do not plan on losing my money without a fight. I will not refund customers in any shape or form.
If Ebay still sides with the buyer ( even after Video Proof ) can the Attorney Generals off in my state and/or the FTC do something about this.
Ebay rules ( Or any corpation ) of buyer and seller protection do not override Local, State and Federal laws.
What do you all thing about my plan ?

There are a lot of magicians and illusionists who use camera tricks to pull off their "magic". In eBay's eyes, who are you to say you're no different? Camera editing isn't tough to do.
I doubt it'll even matter if you have everything notarized. And what if the buyer faked a video of them receiving/opening your package to show its SNAD? It'll be your video against theirs lol.

Ebay does not use filming in any decision making. I doubt you could even win a case in court as the film could be doctored. The best way to avoid SNADS is take many pictures and describe thoroughly. If you do happen to get scammed you would have to take the perpetrator to court which can be very costly unless it is small claims and in your state and like I said a film may not hold water. Luckily there are very few scams overall and 99% of all transaction go smoothly assuming you did a good job on your listing in the first place.

Unfortunately, from having read other threads about filming, you will still be out of luck, in all likelihood.
The ebay argument is that the film could have been photoshopped, or otherwise doctored. That is, if they even look at the film, which has been reported that they do not do.
Thus far, it would seem, from reports of SNAD claims and faulty returns, etc., there is no fool-proof way to save yourself from having to refund, with or without a return.

Filming will not help at all for ebay or paypal so don’t waste your time and if you refuse to refund a buyers money and ebay ends up refunding they will send you to bill collectors and it goes onto your credit report.
If someone scams you for a large amount you can always take a little road trip and visit them and show them why they should return all your money immediately. If your not big and scary looking you can always hire a thug to get the job done.

Maybe what if you sold a fixed price item at 1 penny with free shipping? C'mooooon, no one would really go thru the trouble of filing if they bought anything for 1 penny, right?

Of course someone would. What? You think this world is made up of only rational people?

I had this try to hapen to me. I took photos of a tv monitor and took detailed shots of the serial number and a couple of marks I made that were well hidden. When the guy returned it, ebay did not even question his claim I sent photofs of the broken monitor i nthe box he shipped along with a close up of serial number and no marks were I made some. They denied his claim and I never heard fro mhim again. Just be friem and tell ebay , the item returned is not what you sent and show proof. If they dont side with you then its up to you to persue other avenues. Feel free to call the police to make a report. chances are they may already have a log started on the person and one more claim may get them arrested.

You followed through. Though it is still not fool-proof, when someone follows through, pushes ebay and files the police reports, postal reports and such, things can turn out for the seller.
Many people don't follow through - the ones that do will make the difference.

It is always good to see the person in the right win!

Why not make the delivery in person and film that to? Then see if scammer dares to open an IND on you.
