Just signed out of my eBay account and look what comes up for paid advertising....

Counterfeit Forever Stamps!!

Apparently, eBay will gladly look the other way if they're paid. Shame on you!

And exactly how do you know they are counterfeit. After all, they are 2017 stamps. What was the Forever rate in 2017?

That seller is an idiot to sell them for less than the current first class rate. I think that they are counterfeit too especially if they are dirt cheap.  I have seen them here and also on Facebook. The good news is that now the post office is seizing ALL packages and letters that have counterfeit stamps on them . They will no longer return them to the sender.  This problem is costing the post office millions of dollars every year.

"Shame on you!"? Are you aware that you're not addressing eBay or its management when you post here?

That is the big problem. Most post offices are not setup to test stamps to see if they are counterfeit but most of the major sorting facility hubs will catch them in one of multiple scans. The forever stamp was $.49 in 2017 so a roll of 100 from the post office would have been $49.00. Hard to say what the original origin of the stamps was but it's a pretty safe bet that for $29.99 they are counterfeit. If not they are a heck of a buy given the cost of a current roll of 100 forever stamps is around $63 soon to be $66.

It easy to check the sellers feedback and where its coming from and take it from there.

I do buy bulk stamps for mailing my stamps but I would not buy them for my mailing. I prefer more fancy stamps.

Real or not they can be a hard sell due to businesses not using real stamps anymore. And I would never put certain types of stamps like these on my envelopes on certain International countries who really are not fond of the USA.

Even at a big discount I would not be interested in them. Just my personal opinion.

Maybe these are the same idiots that start an auction at 99 cents. I don't deny that they MAY be counterfeit.  But that does not guarantee that they ARE . In the absence of definitive proof you open yourself to be slapped with a slander charge.

EXCEPT from a post office news release concerning the 2017 rates. "the price of a Forever stamp before the Postal Service was forced to reduce prices by the PRC as part of the exigent surcharge removal."

So your opinion seems to be that ANYONE who sells something for less than market value means that the item MUST be fake. Maybe they are just broke and desperately in need of money to pay the rent having just been served an eviction notice.

I am leery of ANYONE (the OP for instance) who makes a definitive statement without any evidence.

I don't think it's a listing, so reporting would be..............................

As OP stated........................  it's a "paid ad" that eBay is presenting.

While I agree these are probably counterfeit, collectors do buy amazing amounts of new mint stamps and never use them.

We buy them from the estate, usually way below face and sell them at somewhat below face.

It's a normal part of any stamp dealer's business.

These don't meet the usual criteria for those "philatelic estate " lots, since most collector will buy a strip of four or ten in coil stamps because those fit into the album.
