Promotional Listing Question

I'm just now reading up on it.  Read about it on Seller Hub and the thread here.  As I am a TRS it appears I will recieve a monthly credit so I am open to trying it -- just had a few questions for those better informed:

  • Can you do it with relisting something or does it have to be a new listing.?
  • How do they bill you and are you only charged if the item sells?
  • Does it have to be a multiple item variation item/s listing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

Promotional Listing Question

Thank you.  I will read through it thoroughly.  From glancing at it it appears you have to list it with a "campaign" and I won't be able to relist something in a "campaign" if it wasn't initially set up as such.

I will read it all back carefully.

@klassic*kids, no I don't think that's correct.

From the FAQ:

After I launch a campaign, do my future listings automatically appear as ads in that campaign?

Only Good Til Cancelled listings remain in an active campaign when these listings are renewed. All other listings need to be manually added to your campaigns, even relisted items that previously were added to a campaign.

Yes.  I did read rtgat but I am talking about my listings now (which are not "promoted listings") when I go to relist them can I make them "promoted listings" even they have not been in a "campaign" originally.

Yep, just like you can use Markdown Manager with any or your listings, (or not).  Just because they were never in a sale (campaign) or were in a sale (campaign) at some time in the past, neither has any bearing on what you may choose to do with them at a later time.

Also possible to have the same item set up in Markdown Manager AND as a Promoted Listing at the same time,  That means you could get higher visibility for items you've put "on sale" if you chose to promote them - if that makes sense...

Promotional Listing Question

Did one last month just to give it a try. Low cost item in case the credid didn't take.

It was done on a TRS account that did not get the email notice for $30 invoice credit.

The promotions are for multiple item listings (I have no variation listings).

Not all multiple item listings are eligible for a "campaign".  I have many listings with multiples that do not fall into categories that are eligible to be "promoted"

Did just a small promotion to check it out. Appeared a second time as "sponsored" at the end of the available items.

Sold 1 item during the promotion.  Probably would have sold anyway. An invoice credit was shown on the May invoice.

So to make sure I understand -- promotion listings (sponsored listings) campaigns have to be variation listings only?

Thanks in advance.

Promotional Listing Question

@tiramisu41  Well that sounds easy enough! ..  Thanks.  From what I understand this can only be done on variation listings though.  I have a few of them but I wish this was available for all my listings. Smiley Indifferent

@klassic*kids, no I believe it's the opposite.

Per the Promoted Listings FAQ:

Which listings are eligible? How many listings can I promote?

You can only promote multi-quantity fixed price listings in selected categories that are displayed in the promoted listings service. Each campaign can have up to 500 listings included.

To provide the best possible buyer and seller experience for this new service, at this time, we are not offering this service in all categories or for single-quantity or auction listings. You may only promote items in the categories that are displayed in the promoted listings service, which may only be a subset of all of your eBay listings. When creating a promoted listings campaign, only listings which qualify for the service will appear in your selection view.

It's my understanding that eBay is working on broadening the types of listings that can be "promoted" but they aren't ready to release that version yet.  IIRC, there was mention of possibly mid-June 2017 at least for an upate on an ETA.  Check back through the transcripts of the last few weekly chats as I believe it was mentioned/discussed there.

Promotional Listing Question

In my opinion, you may be shooting yourself in the foot. I tend to avoid/skip over promoted and sponsored listings the same way I do Bold or anything else. I prefer to buy from standard listings that don't try to scream at me like a Carnival Barker.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

So for now only multi-item fixed price listings are eligible?...  That's what I was trying to say when I said 'variation' -- may not have the lingo down.  Let me put it this way I have a multi-item listings of the same girl's shirt but in different sizes would that be eligible for promotional listing program?

...  Thank you!

Promotional Listing Question

@tiramisu41 has given you great information on this.

With your most recent question, as long as your item has multiple quantity, and is in a supported category (clothing is one of them) it will qualify for Promoted Listings.

Promotional Listing Question

@klassic*kids

You can just use help and contact to search info for promoted listings.

You can do start a "campaign" to see what listings are eligible.

You do not have to continue with it, but that will show all that you can use it on.
