Promotion

I'm kinda getting the feeling that the "promotion" feature that eBay offers does absolutely nothing to facilitate sales.

I'm also getting the feeling that "promotion" is just another slick move that eBay is doing to scoop up additional fees on sales that will happen anyways.

Just remember that eBay is smarter than your average bear boo boo!

Re: Promotion

I tried it on a handful of listings, and have to say I was very disappointed.  I ended up pulling the promotions and just left it alone.

Re: Promotion

EBay only collects a fee if the item sells.

I see promoted listings at the top of my search results all the time.

I just searched "cell phone case"  under Best Match, and set the result page size to 25 listings.

The search returned 40 listings - 15 of which were promoted listings.

Re: Promotion

I never use promoted listings for my items.

They sell well enough on their own. My items are usually at the top of the page or close to it.

I even top some of the promoted listings.

eBay already gets the bulk of the profit as it is, why give them more if I don't have to.

Re: Promotion

@namtrag1   The only effective Promotion that I have used is Promoted Listings and I run at least one Campaign per quarter.  Of note is that I see more of my long tail items sell during those Campaigns then any other time, so to me that's worth it.  I simply put every Fixed Priced item on a Campaign for 30 days, pic ONE ad rate and let it rip ...

Re: Promotion

I find they work well, but I'm in a super crowded category.

The only problem  is you only pay promotion fees if the item sells via a promotion, you don't pay promotion fees if the customer buys it organically.

I make a lot of sales through promotions.

Re: Promotion

Are you referring to "Promotions" that you offer to buyers on your items?

Or as most understood, "Promoted Listings"?

Re: Promotion

Promotions just brings your items closer to view when a buyer searches using best match. The rest is up to you to get the buyers to purchase your items. In your case "used" shoes selling (price + shipping) are close to the "new" retail prices at stores.

Re: Promotion

This never seemed like a good or profitable thing to me so I just ignored from the start. I'm quite happy with the amount of my sales....
