Im hoping someone in the community may be able to shed some light on this as talking to various eBay support members has only resulted in listening to different stories and resulting in my blood pressure going up as I have to tolerate idiocracy half the time and ppl barely comprehensible in the english language the other half, not to mention the notable lost daily sales since this change a few weeks ago.
For the record, I had a promotion configured via Promotions manager for the past 16(ish) months, where my listings when displayed in search results along with competitor listings were showing a banner of the promotion being offered on the listing tile. To be clear on this, Im referring to displayed listing tiles in search results, not when a user drills into the listing itself. In the case of the latter, the promotion is visible inside my listings, but not in search results whereas my competitor's listings in search results do display the banner.
I have heard this story and that story from eBay support about their algorithms making decisions to add and remove content from being displayed but I call bull**bleep** on all of those stories as half the time I get a different story from a different individual which clearly tells me first and second line support do not know their product well enough and are just blagging their way through it 90% of the time. This view is further cemented by my findings vs. their claims:
1. eBay support claim No1; Algorithm adds and removes content like banners at random for different sellers and these are cycled through between sellers over a period of time.
I call bull**bleep** to those claims because:
a) I have waited over two weeks now for something to change and only the competitor's listings are displaying the banner. By pure luck, the competitor decided to kill their promotion and thus the banner disappeared from their listings within 24hrs. 3 days later the competitor added the same promotion again and now the banner is back being displayed on their listings.
b) To remove the possibility of something going wrong with my promotion (despite no changes at my end in this regard for quite sometime), I paused the old promotion and created a new promotion from scratch. 3 days latter "unlike" my competitor I do not see a state change.
So to surmise, eBay's platform penalises customers at random(?) and those penalised loose sales almost immediately whilst others profit at the opposite end?!?!? When questioned, eBay's statement is "its the algorithm, the algorithm" implying what? The algorithm has favourites? Where is the sense/logic in providing an advantage to paying customers attempting to trade in your platform seemingly at random, but more so from my perspective not at random but selectively?
And don't get me started on the shipping over-charges for multiple items purchased by the same buyer, as previously mentioned by various other frustrated seller on this out of control platform!
Loosing the will to live here and certainly loosing market share that's taken months and months of hard work to attain! Not amused!!!
