I noticed you can promote your eBay store now. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this ? Sounds like a gimmick and a good way to waste money. Is this a good way to help your store get sales or not ?

There is NO way to PROVE that the use of any type of PL increases sales. It is a ploy by eBay to increase their revenues, they care little about benefits to sellers which is typical of most corporate models. EBay has only one goal and that is to maximize their value to their shareholders.

If you are selling "one of a kind" items that nobody else has....it does not make sense to promote your listing. If other sellers have the same item as you...it you want your item seen you should promote at the 2% minimum. You only pay the 2% if you item sells.

The Store promotion is Pay Per Click. I sell single quantity, long tail items. I can see no reason to use any Pay Per Click strategy with my type of inventory. It MIGHT be useful for sellers of multi quantity listings, although I have my doubts.

You can try it, but I think it's important to remember that sellers are also eBay's paying customers. Maximizing revenues from sellers in the most proficient way possible will continue to be their aim.
This is why AI has been so valuable to them. It constantly audits every seller's store, sales, listings, policies etc., looking to reward those who make eBay the most money in the shortest amount of time, and ignore those unwilling to share it with eBay. This is what it's designed to do.... increase eBay's revenue...period.
It doesn't care about the human element, it has no feelings. It's not a "seller's tool", nor was it implemented to make things easier for sellers. If anything, it has made things more frustrating for sellers needing human consideration for their issues.
Therefore, whether sellers decide to raise their PL rates, purchase ads, or market their store, it only matters if AI thinks it's worth it.
