I've just been solicited by Ebay to use their "Promote This Listing" option...This is MY question...If I do not tumble to their offer....does that automatically mean that they give my listings "short Shrift"...in an attempt to force me to use their "Promote This Listing" option...so they can get my $2.99 ?

No. eBay tries to get me to promote my listings all the time, but I have never promoted an item in my life. And my sales have remained remarkably steady.

I'm also in Team Never-Promoted-Anything (and Never Will). My sales are just fine.

Depends really on what you sell. We promote some items and typically do well as a result.
E-Bay is always hawking PLs. Do what makes sense for you and your wares. Good luck!

No, you won't be given "short shrift"...if you don't want to promote (and I'm guessing this is an auction listing), then don't.
