I listed one item as a Promoted listing at 15% for a month to see what would happen. Today the month is up.
I wanted to see if someone looked at the Promoted Listing would it prompt them to look at my other items and I also wanted to see if I would pick up anymore followers.
My experiment shows the Promoted Listing had way more views then all my listings although it did not prompt any signific views on anything else or lead to anymore Followers.
The promoted listing had way more views. It was at 7 views when I started the Promotion and finished with 55 views. The other three items are not even close with views. I have 28 Listings but I am showing these 4 because they are the same type listings.

Did any of those listings sell though? I can't tell from the image but I'm assuming not if you are able to compare your views like that. Interesting though.

Views are nice. What about SALES? Sales would be the ultimate goal it seems to me.

Eyeballs equals sales. It's as simple as that. Coors Light/Bud Light/Corona Light are all the exact same thing. They have to be, because they are chasing the same buyer. Advertising, sponsorships, in-store marketing, sales on product, etc, etc all create top-of-mind and increase sales.
Building a brand following has never been a goal of mine...over 98% of my buyers are NOT repeat buyers, and always have been. I have to craft my market towards price, quality, and delivery speed/reliability. Having the sales data available at an instant is a very valuable tool for making background decisions which will eventually affect sales.
Ahoy!

No, nothing sold. These items are in a highly saturated market so I was not expecting big sales but I did hope for more Market Exposure and maybe sell a few. These items are $3.50 each. First Class shipping is more than the items, Priority is more than double.
Eventually when I get tired of selling I will remove all these from the package and dump them in lots of 20 to 50 each.
When I list something for a few hundred dollars it gets lots of views and will sell, no Promotion Listing needed.
I can not figure out how are the suggested Promoted Rates determined. The four listings are essentially the same like items. Two are suggested at 9.5%, one is suggested at $4.8% and the one I have at 15% is suggested at 7.1%.
I am going to cancel the listing to reset the views and then restart it at 50% for the next month and see what happens.

Well, honestly, eBay is pushing traffic to sellers who have sales. Doesn't matter if you promote or not. It makes a difference how much time you spend on your store daily, listing and improving, how quick you ship, and all of that. eBay favors sellers who are selling and working on their stores. You can see promotions did get you some more views, just not sales.
A little more traffic doesn't mean a noticeable appreciation of sales. It just means a few more people scrolled by.

First. How do you really know if that is real views or if it's just some bots that eBay let loose to make you think you got views
Second. This is all a scam.
Right now people are all noticing a extremely low low very low number of views. And ohhhhhh it just happens to be Christmas time .
I'd say 70 plus percent of the responses in this "community" is also paid for..
But ,......we can see all those lovely china items..
Have you figured this out yet?
eBay is now chinabay

I took a quick look at you lowest priced items, BIN for $3.5 and $7.5 shipping, without promotion fees you will net $1.34 with a 15% promotion you will lose $1.36 on every sale not counting anything for item cost.
You might want to rethink selling items at that low of a price

So refreshing to read another poster's comment who actually "gets" what is happening here.
