Not just super clear on an aspect of Promoted Listing Standard.
I think this aspect has been referred to as "Halo"?
If I promote a listing at 50%. And a shopper opens up that listing and their next click is another one of my listings (not promoted), and buys that item.
Am I charged 50% on the non promoted listing sale?

If they access that second item though that listing, I believe so. If I am wrong, I will be corrected shortly.

"Am I charged 50% on the non promoted listing sale?"
No. If the second item is not in a Promoted Listing campaign, there is no "halo effect".
If it IS in a PL campaign, and is clicked as a "sponsored" listing, then it is treated as a "direct" PL sale, and its own PLS rate applies. It is NOT a halo sale.
If it IS in a PL campaign, but is clicked as an organic listing, then it is treated as a "halo" sale, and , again, the rate that applies is the rate attached to the second item.

This whole "halo" issue is confusing as some sellers post here that they are charged a PLS fee on items not part of a PLS campaign.
I posted a question recently about the halo effect because I was running 2 different PLS campaigns with different percentages and have some items not being promoted.
I'm still not sure of the legality, morality or ethical practice of charging sellers for the halo effect.
I thought halo's designated angels. I don't think this one does. LOL

@b86fiero Legal? Yes.
Moral or ethical? Opinions will differ.
Halo fees are NEVER incurred for the sale of an item that is NOT part of a PL campaign.
They are NEVER incurred for the sale of an item that is SHOWN TO THE BUYER AS A SPONSORED LISTING. Those items are always DIRECT fees, NOT Halo fees.
The ONLY time a Halo fee is incurred is if the Halo item IS part of a PLS campaign but has been shown to the buyer as an organic listing (for example, buyer clicks on Item A, shown as a sponsored item on the search results page, and later enters your store and clicks on Item B in your store (where it is shown organically , not as sponsored) If Item B is in a PLS campaign, the rate opf its campaign will be applied as a Halo fee.

So, whatever the route a buyer takes when getting to my listing to purchase, I'm only going to be charged the percentage associated with the listing purchased.
Correct?

@redlinear Correct.
If a "direct sale" you are charged the rate associated with the sponsored listing. Same as it has always been.
In a halo sale, if First listing is a PLS at 50%, and the second (halo) listing is a PLS at 10% shown as an organic listing, the second listing sale would be charged the 10% fee associated with its own PLS campaign, NOT the 50% from the first listing.

If I end my listings promotion why am i still being billed for promotions? Is it because it is still being seen/or click on from the old ad?

I'm pretty sure the promotion rate applies to the promoted items for awhile after you end a campaign. Maybe 30 days? (not certain on how long).
This is to keep you from ending a promotion just before a sale, in order to circumvent the promotion fee.

I'm sorry, did you just arbitrarily select 50% as a promotion rate to use as an example????
Or do you ACTUALLY promote items at 50% of the entire transaction????
Either way, I am hoping you can offer a reasonable explanation...

Those people are either mistaken and the item is part of a PLS campaign, or they are unaware of the 30 day rule, whereby a sale within 30 days of the click results in the ad fee, even if the item has since been removed from an active PLS campaign.
If a listing is not promoted and never has been, it will not be subject to an ad fee. Full stop.

Items won't sell if they are not seen. Search results have been an issue for several years now and the problem seems to be getting worse.
Just getting seen seems to be more important than price.
I've had decent luck with taking older listings with Cheap prices ($9.50). Marking them up to ($28.50), and Promoting them at 50%.
I will also take an expensive, somewhat popular item ($1200), Raise it's price to ($3500), and promote it at 50%. I do this just to get views. Usually, these items don't have a ton of competition, so they will stay at the top of search results due to the price/promotion/views. And they get LOTS of views. Shoppers will click on these items just to see why they are priced so high. And every so often, one will actually sell (BONUS!).
But the reason I do it is for those few shoppers that continue on to my Other Listings, just to see how dumb I really am on the rest of my Items Prices. And since most of the rest of my items prices are really good, I've now got them shopping in my store.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques
One of the$1200 items sold for $3500 here while back. (Happy Happy ME!!!).
It was a freight truck shipment item.
And then saw where it was going....Hawaii (Not so happy me...)
BUT, for $3500, I darn sure figured out a way to make it work. LOL
