Funny, but I thought listing on EBay was promoting my item. I used to go to the club flea market once or twice a year to sell my extra hobby items but eBay provided more buyers. Now, you want me to pay $0.99 to promote an item I list for $0.99. My items were never in the dark before. I never needed to shine a light on them before. Free listing does not mean free listing anymore. I thought your 10% charge was your fee but apparently I was wrong. SAD.

Hi, you are correct, it’s all my fault. The kit is one of a kind as far as eBay is concerned. I just got an email from Singapore about the ambiguous kit, “MIRACLE”

I just searched 'Balsa Sopwith' and nothing else
Yours is at the top of 31 listings.
So, it's searchable and with 31 listings, no need to promote (except when I click your item, I will see 'other promoted items' on YOUR listing)- so; there is ALWAYS a reason to at least do the now 2%

My initial thought on promoting a listing was negative. Last week, though, a thought popped into my mind.
My business model is the e-Bay selling of items I have failed to vend in my store. For what I refer to as junk DVDs. if they did not move for $5.79, which profited me 44 cents, I gave the titles to whomever had a desire. Beginning in Aug., I will take a month to promote at 7%. If I am successful, I will have a return of my investment. If, though, promotion has zero effect, I will know and never wonder "what if."

That changed BEFORE managed payments. Some categories charge 15 %.

I think there are ways to get around promoted listings. Lists a lot of stuff. Throw in a few penny auctions and a few free shipping. Will get views and watchers. Have to think outside the box. Buyers click into auctions and free shipping even though promoted listings will appear. Some big sellers don't do auctions or free shipping on anything. The big sellers are rather firm on never doing auctions or free shipping.

I don't know about yours, but all the flea markets in my areas charge a premium for booths located in high traffic areas. PL is kind of like that.

You can Promote a listing for as little as 2% of the selling price.
You don't pay anything until it sells.
You can't make money on 99c items.
The Final Value Fees have not been 10% for a couple of years, varying from 5% to 14.55% depending on category.

@nsta8654 wrote:I am selling a 1/3 scale Balsa USA SOPWITH PUP kit. The only one on the entire eBay site. You would think it would appear when you search for a 1/3 scale Balsa USA kit. You are wrong, it only appears when you specifically search for the kit by it’s full description.
WRONG.
See the attached screen shot. I simply entered
balsa sopwith
And yours came cane up third in the list.
