Magazines don't qualify for media mail. You will need to use a different service.

Magazines DO NOT qualify for Media Mail.
The answer is to not try to violate USPS policy.

USPS rules say "magazines cannot be shipped by Media Mail" because they include advertising.

The magazine is from 1906

Avon was in business then.
And Kelloggs.
And Lysol.

Here is your answer. Don't ship it under magazines. I have been researching selling a bunch of vintage magazines. Seems that over 80 percent or more of the sellers have them listed with Media Mail shipping. I can't compete with the shipping since I refuse to ship media mail due to the fact it is against the USPS rules. As everyone has stated. You can not ship items like magazines that have ads in them. Doesn't matter if they are 100 years old.
Keep this in mind. If you ship it media mail the USPS has the right to open your package and confirm the contents. If the item gets to the buyers post office and they open it and find it doesn't qualify for media mail then they will do a post due to the buyer.
While I know its not ebay's fault it really stinks I won't be able to list the 500 magazines I have due to the fact I can not compete against the sellers using media mail.

I lived in a small town awhile back, where my post office opened every single package marked Media Mail. I had learned my lesson early on (I had a friend who worked the counter at the USPS, and I was severely scolded about Media Mail and comic books), so I wasn't affected, but sellers I knew had their packages returned to them. Even worse, things could show up at the buyer's house with postage due, earning a negative feedback.
