Hi,
My auction ended almost a day ago, but I still haven't heard from, or been paid, by the buyer.
I did send the buyer a message right after the auction ended, telling him that I had the original packaging, and battery charger, which I could include if he wanted and to let me know, but still no word back.
Should I try contacting him again? Or just wait another day for the payment?
Thanks,
Jim
P.S. Sorry if there might be a dupe msg. I clicked earlier, but wasn't sure if it sent.

One message to the buyer from you is more than enough. EBay will remind them. If needed, file the unpaid item claim. Some sellers give buyers more time than two days, some don't.

"open a Nonpayment case". Same here. I pay for my items within minutes. Once they get the total with taxes a lot of people go quiet.

You must be new and anxious about your first sale on Ebay. That is not even enough time to wait for payment. After 2 full days you should send himn the invoice if you haven't already and ask them when you can't expect payment. He might have tried to pay and not finished it, forgotten or heaven forbid, be in the hospital.

@jimohaya - When an auction ends the buyer is automatically sent a message from eBay to pay. They will receive a reminder afterwards if payment still doesn't show. If you have also sent a message then that is at least three reminders. Some people are overly sensitive and this could be the reason why they haven't paid.
They may have forgotten if they submitted the bid hours or days before the auction ended. Not everyone lives with their phone in their hand.
Life continues to go on for others so they may have gotten caught up with other things. Perhaps they have children at home they are assisting with home schooling now?
The list could go on with reasons why they haven't paid you "almost a day ago" after the auction ended.
I would suggest you NOT send anymore messages and try to be a little more patient. If they haven't paid you by the third full day after the auction ended then simply open an item not paid case. Either that will trigger them to pay or the case will eventually close on your behalf and you will receive a full credit for your fees. Then you can relist at no charge and sell it to someone else. Best of luck to you....

Enable unpaid item assistant - you can choose how long you give the buyer before it automatically files on them (up to 4 days). It will not be possible for this sale, but in future it makes things easier if you continue with auctions or non-immediate payment listings.
In this case, just be patient - some people are absent-minded and not everyone checks eBay every day. Others will deadbeat you, but it's too early to know. eBay sends reminders enough.

No, don't do that.
- Sending an invoice locks in the shipping. The buyer can change their address when they pay and if you're using calculated shipping you can easily get hosed if the new address is a few zones away. Ok I see you offered free shipping so that doesn't matter in this specific case, but still it's a redundant action and unnecessary.
- Don't ask them when to expect payment. eBay already sends reminders and you have the unpaid item assistant tool which sends additional reminders. If the buyer wants an extension for some reason - like waiting for their next paycheck - they will reach out to you.
You sold a really pricey item on a rarely-used account with almost no selling history. Beware of scams!! Don't give your e-mail to the buyer if they say they are having problems paying. Don't ship to an address that's not on the orders page after payment. Get signature confirmation. Be cautious. Good luck, man.

Good advice from @wastingtime101 . I wouldn't panic--yet--some people pay immediately after an auction and some take a few days. I have experienced both. I have found that international buyers, and not sure if yours is, sometimes take longer. Could be time differences or whatever.
I usually weight about 3 days before I send an invoice or another email. I only open an unpaid item usually after a week if I have not heard from the buyer at all.

There is no need to send additional messages. You can open an Unpaid item claim 48 hours after the auction ends. Most people who don't pay within the first 48 hours aren't going to and there isn't any reason to wait. Also make sure that if this buyer pays that you ship with signature confirmation as it is required for items $750 and above.

Hi,
Still no payment and no contact/message from the buyer yet. It is now about 2 days (~46 hours) since the auction closed :(...

Hi,
Ebay says the buyer is in the U.S., but BTW, I noticed that they haven't provided me with his address anywhere yet... Not in the confirmation email I got from Ebay and not on Ebay itself.
I am just curious if that is normal?

No payment from the buyer yet, so I opened the unpaid thing last night... and still no word from buyer today.

Now there's nothing for you to do but wait. Try to be patient. When you file an unpaid item claim, eBay immediately sends the buyer a message that strongly encourages them to pay for their item within 4 days. But that's all eBay does.
If the buyer doesn't pay, then after 4 days you'll get the option to close the case, giving the buyer a strike and getting a credit for your final value fee. Do not expect to hear anything about your case directly from eBay. Either the buyer pays or they don't. If you don't close the case within 36 days after the transaction it will expire, which means no strike for the buyer and no credit for you.
