A couple weeks ago I posted about a difficult buyer who made a purchase from me and wanted to send item back. I accepted the return and received the shoes back. Buyer left me Negative feedback immediately and demanded a FULL refund including shipping before I could even get home from work to process the return. Also received a few messages from buyer stating that they would "only" do a feedback revision if I refunded them in full. Keep in mind the Neg. FB was left within minutes of the post office marking the return as delivered and as I work FT I do not get my mail until after work. I caved and gave them a full refund while I was at work. I was pretty upset over the whole situation but sent them a feedback revision request. Of course that went nowhere and no changes were made. I added to my BB list and contacted EBay to report the buyer as using "feedback extortion" to obtain a full refund. Ebay checked into it, showed the full refund, the messages from buyer demanding a full refund and threatening to withhold positive fb unless I did as they said. Ebay removed the negative fb immediately.
I woke up this morning 2/26/23 to a message from Ebay about this buyer. Buyer has now initiated a Charge Back from their financial institution for $10.75. I don't get it. I refunded this person IN FULL!!!! Including shipping both ways. The total refund was $42.23 and I ended up losing $11.75 for the shipping which I won't be able to recoup even if this item sells to a new buyer, but that's my problem and the cost of doing business. But where on earth did they come up with $10.75? It doesn't even match the total of the sale or the shipping? How do you even dispute a transaction that was fully refunded? Why are they even allowed to do that? Now this buyer not only has a full refund and ALL of their money back, and I am already out $11.75 for initial shipping and the return shipping they are wanting an ADDTIONAL $10.75 from me FOR WHAT? I am livid!!!
I guess because I have never encountered this before just needing some reassurance. In the message I rcvd from Ebay it states I am protected by Ebay seller protection and that a dispute rebuttal was sent on my behalf to the financial institution. It states I do not need to do anything and will be notified of the outcome. How worried do I have to be about this? I just don't understand how a buyer can even request above what they even paid and received back. Its like they picked a random amount out of a hat. Is there a chance I could be forced to pay them more money above what they even paid?

Was it international? Maybe they are trying to recover duty cost?
Probably raging because the feedback was removed. Attempts to screech no longer work. The neighbor took the Dog in so the buyer can't yell at him/her. Honestly there's too many folks these days getting extreme in they're extremities.

Was not international. It was domestic to California.

probably the sales tax, although ebay should have refunded that when you closed out the return

I'd a merchant account for quite sometime and we could refund in full, partial, issue a credit of additional funds directly... However, via a chargeback it was always the total amount having no way to issue anything other than that as its the card aggregate processor who performs it. That is to say "The Middle Man" for example Wells Fargo did our actual processing even though our merchant account was with EMS Systems.
All I can figure in you're situation would be the buyer lying to his card issuing bank against the transaction. That is to say for example, I buy "Xx" from vendor "Yy" which appears on my statement as "eBay." Then Ayden eBay's processor is led to believe the chargeback is related to you're sale vs another that appeared as that $10.75 on the cardholders statement. But again as I said, in chargebacks at least with merchant account I had a chargeback always the full amount but I cant speak towards others.
This should never have even made it to you're eyes since you issued a refund in full.
I don't know eBay's contractual arrangement with Ayden but chargebacks cost money. When I'd the merchant account if you'd purchased something from me for $1 and did a chargeback it instantly cost me $75. There'd be a fee of $25 processing from EMS, $25 from Chase as fee for reserving you're dollar in my bank and in responding to you're dispute, $25 each and everytime need send "Our side of the story."

I had one like yours.
An un-deliverable was returned to me. I let the buyer know, and refunded in full through eBay. Never a peep from the buyer. Before, or after.
Month or so later I got a notice like you that the buyer had filed a dispute (charge back) as problem with transaction.
As with you, eBay told me they rebutted, and that I was covered.
Later on down the road, more than a month later eBay messaged that a was good.
You should be fine.
