Just out of curiosity, I had wanted to compare our prices to other sellers selling the same items. We have a particular breaker that had been posted for a really long time, and has only sold 2 out of 100 listed, since March. So, I went to see what the going price is, and I was shocked. Same breaker goes for $14.98 at HD, so we started our price at $11.99 but others are selling the same exact one for over $20 and people are actually buying. I'm guessing we are going to have to relist and try out with a higher price,so we can just to move them. We try to be at least cheaper then retail but it seems like some buyers aren't interested in the cheaper price. Doesn't any make sense. I get the concept where people won't buy something just because the cheaper price may seem like it's too cheap, but when compared to retail price, it's really not that much cheaper. We are considering relisting at around the same prices as everyone else's, but that almost feels wrong.

You'd probably sell more at like $15.98. Cheaper than the highest prices, but not TOO cheap.

So, do you think we should just make a whole new listing or just change the price? I'm think due to the age of the listing, it might be wise to do a new listing but not even sure if it would even matter.

The first thing I saw when looking up your item was two PL's that were cheaper than your price and they also offered free shipping. The items that are selling for more than yours may also be PL's (Promoted Listings) and are getting more visibility than your item. You don't need to relist your item to change the price all you need to do is revise it by clicking on your item and go to the top left of the listing and click the revise option. I would watch the two cheaper listings to see if they are underselling you, if not raising your price will probably make their item more attractive to potential buyers. It seems you are caught in the PL squeeze. I think your price is competitive where you have it.

If you want to relist it to shake things up it might be a good strategy and get a few more views. The only thing is it might take up to a day to get the indexing done. Good Luck

I would just change the price, but if it's older and has sunk to the bottom of search doing a new listing with the new price might work better.

I think it would be good to do a sell similar and change the title around a bit, maybe a word or two in capital letters. If your listing keeps falling to the bottom due to age I don't think anyone ever sees it especially if there are others being sold, even if they are more expensive. Check your key words too, maybe even make one or two words in capital letters. Give this baby a new number and let it sell 🙂   Good Luck!!!

Lowering prices is not always the answer.  I actually rarely pay attention to what other sellers are selling some of the stuff I sell and at what price.  If I do take a peek for some reason, I often find I charge a little more, but my item is selling.  

 

On these threads, we probably hear as much from sellers that lower their prices and it results in sales as we do from sellers that increase their pricing and it results in sales.

We had suspected this may be the case. We're probably just going to have to make a whole new listing with a new higher price and see what happens.
