Do these sellers realize that price gouging is illegal? I mean, $1,000.00 for 1 ounce of USED hand sanitizer while our nation is facing virus that is killing people is not just wrong, it's illegal. Then there is the fact that as fast as eBay is taking them down they are slipping by, by relisting them time & time again. With the above mentioned item being used, it is potentially not safe anyways. I just don't get how these people are going out buying up as much as they can, keeping it out of the hands of those who fall in the at risk groups & then thinking they will get rich while people are at risk of dying! I just find it really sad that some go that low in our nation. I just really want to know why are these items still for sell on eBay & still being allowed to be posted?

eBay's policy says no one may list hand sanitizers at *any* price. Period. Auction, fixed price, anything.
You got it, yet? That wasn't until about 2 days ago.
If you think people should not be able to sell hand sanitizers to people who need them, then report them.
That's your prerogative.
There were two separate announcements by Ebay.
February 28th.
March 5th.

These kind of Sellers DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR FELLOW MAN, only the
ALMIGHTY DOLLAR. I had hoped something catastrophic would never happen
because it only shows the UGLY side of people. ALL FOR ME AND THE HELL
WITH YOU mentality !!
ZERO seller "care about their fellow man" and why would they?
We sell **bleep** online for people like you to buy.
I don't run some SJW political bull**bleep** business. I run his business to sell **bleep** to people and I don't care who you are. You want to buy, then buy it!
Speak for yourself. You certainly don't speak for me. Clearly you think the practice of price gouging in a crisis is fine as you have said you do. It is not only legally wrong, it is morally wrong. But no matter what any of us say on any of these threads, you have your beliefs that are not going to change. But don't act like you speak for all of us because you absolutely do NOT.

Just for a bit of a giggle, which many of us need at this time.

What is your question or concern?
Ebay will close it. It takes time for them to continue to find all the listings. Sellers are getting pretty creative in how to slow the closing process down. When you see them, report them. That will help.

There are currently listings for hand sanitizers priced 6 times normal retail. This type of gouging is illegal in most civilized states.

They should be banned from ebay, these listings are illegal in the states these sellers are selling from.

Anyone reading this post it's going to be easy to show these people breaking the law the reality of what they have done.
Go ahead and when you get the item, go to your state's website for attorney general's office and file a price gouging complaint. In the report you can provide the sellers' information and contact. Since you paid with payment forms you can include that as well. Once this happens depending on your state (link below) the seller who raised the price of toilet paper or other necessity more than 10-15% of normal price will then be subject to fines and possibly jail time. That's what a state of emergency gets you people who "took risk".

They really need to remove the toilet paper also. I just saw someone sell 12 rolls of toilet paper that probably retailed for $9.99 for $192.50. Here I have been searching online and in stores for days for toilet paper for my household. Why is eBay allowing these people to sell these items on their site?
They should be banned from price gouging including toilet paper, paper towels, and baby wipes.
This makes me sad for our country as a whole.

Agreed. Look at my earlier posts with the attorney general consumer price complaints. You can fill in the complaint and ebay should be getting calls from our state's attorney offices. I saw a seller today sell 50+ cases of 4pack Charmin for 32.50 a pop and they have plenty more to go.
There are 2 ways that this will be handled, those who bought will have the financial transaction and history to file their complaint with their state's attorney general office. I would expect many of these sellers to find out their money gets wiped out as not as described and more claims come against the 500-1000% markup they are having with this. This is the last harbor for greed, walmart third party, amazon have already shut this down. Ebay will get on it as I'm sure 1000's of complaints were filed this weekend.

File a complaint in California. Ebay's HQ will have to respond to this

why isn't eBay shutting down the sellers that are price gouging for hand sanitizers and the shipping cost of them?

03-15-2020 09:06 PM
Then why are the listings still there if eBay doesn't allow them at ANY price???
