Re: Prada Bag authentication help

I'm no expert, but the hardware to me looks suspect. I would think Prada would have PERFECT hardware without a single lump or dimple. I also can't say I've ever seen a Prada bag made of material like that. Post to the fashion board. They will be much better at this kind of question.

Re: Prada Bag authentication help

With so many fakes of designer purses out there, if you have to ask if it's a fake, then you just have to assume it is.

And even if it is real and you get authentication, if a buyer claims it's a fake after they get it, ebay will believe them and force you to refund and you will get a defect on your account.  It is not worth the risk as scammers target designer merchandise and sellers that seem unsure of it.

Re: Prada Bag authentication help

With that wavy zipper and cheap material,it does not have the quality of a Prada.

Re: Prada Bag authentication help

What wavy zipper?  I just see OP trying to take a photo with it unzipped.

The fabric is called tessuto.

Without seeing a few other things (hardware on straps), at first glance it looks okay to me.

A Prada bag is always lined in the same color (close to it) as the exterior.  Which this one is and most fakes aren't.

Again, first glance at upside down photos but font is correct.

You will have a problem because if a buyer claims that it is a fake - and ebay will believe them.

Scammers target quick flip items like designer bags - and their favorite victims are sellers with not a lot of selling feedback.  You should have as much recent selling feedback as the dollar value of the item you want to sell.  I have a lot of selling feedback and know what I am doing and I know ebay policy and that is why I will not list a designer handbag on ebay.

Re: Prada Bag authentication help

@lisamungiovi90

When I was taught how to autheticate designer merchandise, I was told to look at very specific things... stitching, logo placement, straps, pockets... Most of your photos look OK although it's difficult to tell since I can't see enough detail.

However photo #2 with the Prada logo in the triangle looks suspect. I can't be sure if it's the angle you took the photo, or really there, but it appears as though the stitching around the logo is not even.

Designer merchandise that sells for thousands is perfect. They pay big money to manufacture the best quality stuff. They have tough quality control. And anything with a mistake does not get shipped.

The advise you got to post to the fashion board is good, as most people who deal in Prada or designer bags could tell you whether or not your bag is fake. But regardless of whether or not you have a real bag, it won't stop a buyer from claiming fake. They can ship you back anything. If they have tracking to prove you received something you will have to refund in full.

Cheers, C.

Re: Prada Bag authentication help

Here's the only advice you should consider:

Don't even THINK about selling that on ebay. You will be scammed 100% of the time.

There's another thread on here about someone who sold a $5,000 Chanel purse and they had to fight tooth and nail for months on end against someone who claimed they were sold a fake and returned a $2 purse, and I still don't even know after finally winning the ebay case if they ended up losing a Paypal or CC chargeback case.

If that thing is of any value whatsoever you simply cannot risk selling it here.

Re: Prada Bag authentication help

This is from the sports collection and it's authentic.  You can and should pay a professional authenticator - it's worth the money because then you should not have any problems should a question arise with your listing.

Again, it's authentic, it's from the sports line and it's simply known as a sports mini sac.

Best of luck with your future sales.

Re: Prada Bag authentication help

BTW, for further information about this purse or any other designer named items that you may have questions about, please feel free to ask on the FASHION community board.  There are many that are considered experts in various brand items that post regularly on that board.

Unfortunately not all authentication have accurate information so you can’t assume that what they tell you is correct.
