Possibility of Much Needed Exceptions

APPRECIATION for All of the Work and Ebay's effort in navigating and formats to make the ebay experience as easy as it is, I believe that it would be so helpful to have a "TRULY EXCEPTION" Category for situations that would pre-qualify with Properly Designed Technology. i.e. I was Ill and Disabled approximately 5 mos. earlier, with no help with my ebay account/transactions, at which time I was delayed with an Order, I did ship with some delay, and rightfully the Buyer became impatient and contacted ebay for a Refund and a Negative Feedback. Apparently our transactions crossed and the Buyer received Item with appreciation and  understanding, and indicated that she would request removal of the Negative Feedback, but to no avail. This was the Only Negative or Neutral Feedback I've every received in 14 Years on ebay. Eventually, I thought that I would contact Seller service at ebay after some continued Illness, but was informed by the " "auto system" that the time frame for such an appeal had expired. Even with the Buyer consenting to a change of feedback, nothing could be done, which brings me to a possible "Exception".

Re: Possibility of Much Needed Exceptions

Any exception you propose would be abused by some sellers, eBay does not have the time or inclination to individually vet every excuse.

It's important that EVERY seller has a plan to deal with such interruptions especially those that are somewhat old and decrepit (like me!).

All you really need is one trusted person that can shut down your eBay activities if you should become incapacitated.

Unfortunately you can’t have feedback removed that what was left a while ago. You should have sent your buyer a feedback revision request. Then the buyer would’ve had the opportunity to change the feedback themselves.
If the feedback qualified for removal eBay wouldn’t need the buyer’s consent to remove it, they would’ve just removed it.

I agree with slippinjimmy

A brief written procedure can be provided that can be used to easily suspend/end selling temporarily or permanently.

Re: Possibility of Much Needed Exceptions

I'm sorry you were sick and that caused this blip in the process.  Just forget about it and carry on now, as it is too late to do anything about it.

People get sick, have problems, mistakes are made by sellers and by buyers, misunderstandings arise, life happens.  Even if it wanted to, eBay could never hire and train enough staff to accurately assess every anomalous situation, case by case.  In a marketplace with about 18 million sellers and 1.5 billion listings on any given day, a great deal of the routine stuff must be automated for the whole thing to work at all.

One neg doesn't hurt you, anyhow, especially as you took the opportunity provided to respond to it with your explanation.

Re: Possibility of Much Needed Exceptions

For the buyer to be able to change the FB, the seller (you) would have needed to send the buyer a form called Feedback Revision Request.  Did you do that?
