weird reaction to selling something

This evening I sold a book lot out of my store and my instant reaction was one of disbelief. It's getting pretty bad out there! I normally sell a fair amount of single books and lots out of my store but not right now and I have the pitiful payout to prove it. I wonder if competition has skyrocketed and will simmer down again next year. I've been on here a long time and this bad number of sales at this time of year is pretty unique.

What is it that you couldn't believe?

My usual reaction to an unexpected cha-ching is to say out loud "Yes!!!" then check what it is and then get to the computer. Too bad it's not as often anymore...

From your post i take it did not achieve the amount you expected. Auctions now seem to be a real crap shoot. I wanted to see if things had picked up with auctions and i took it on the chin. Not for a bunch just not near what i thought. I did save on 1 out of 4 because i had a non paying winner. Good luck with selling.

that something actually sold! As pointed out on another thread stuff is flying off the shelves on Amazon so it's not like nobody wants books anymore.

If my stuff was flying off the shelves on Amazon and I was getting no sales on eBay, I would not be spending much time on eBay.

I wonder if competition has skyrocketed and will simmer down again next year.

Wouldn't a few quick searches of active and sold listings help answer this question?

Definitely a weird reaction, considering that you have had 225 recent sales on eBay.

How does that compare to Amazon? Stuff is now flying off the shelves there? But another of your recent threads complained about sales on Amazon ... Weird.

Nope, trying to keep up some auctions but that's about it. When I list I check sales history and the items appear to be promising but could be that whoever wanted the stuff already bought it a while ago. Or, there is just already a glut of everything. I usually get tons of offers but not even those at this time.

Those sales were not recent. And yes indeed it wasn't that long ago I was very disturbed by sales on amazon but lately "Christmas" has kicked in with lots of sales. Maybe in the new year things will flip again and I'll start to do better  here and slow down on Amazon. that is often the trend, when one site does well the other languishes. I just had my smallest payout  here in perhaps ever so I am asking myself what I should do to try to turn that around. Possibly just wait it out if it's an issue of oversupply right now.

Depends on your definition. I count September, October, and November as recent.

You're doing better than most sellers who start threads about low sales.
