Please take our Community survey

Hi all,

We’re doing a research study on the eBay Community site, including the forums, discussions, seller news, and knowledge base/Q&A and we would like your confidential feedback. Your individual answers will not be tracked or linked to your selling ID or Community ID.

We are using these answers provided by you along with hundreds of other similar people to understanding how well the eBay Community is serving members today, and to learn where there is room for improvement in the eBay Community experience, for the future. The survey should take approximately 6-7 minutes to complete. Do not use browser buttons to navigate the survey. Please scroll down to the bottom of the page and use the “Next” or “Back” button to navigate.

Thank you for selling on eBay!

ebay is celebrating 25 years of being online.  25 years is a quarter of a century and about 1/3 of the average American's entire lifetime.

It has taken this long to start following what has been happening and to take an interest in the health of the community?  Perhaps a wee bit slow getting started here?

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Respect, like money, is only of 'worth' when it is earned - with all due respect, it can not be ordained, legislated or coerced. Anonymous

14 minutes.  Interesting questions.  Wonder where it is leading?

Board changes again.........

Judging from the responses we've received on our threads and posts on the Community Feedback Platform, I think we can all predict how this information will be used.

It won't be.

We'll be told that change is inevitable and we just need to live with it, or that it's Khoros' fault, or the Community Team is understaffed, or that the moderators are doing their jobs correctly, or that they're reducing visual clutter, or that the change is the industry standard, or . . .

Silly me!  When I first read that I thought it said 'herd'?  (memo to self: gotta get new glasses)

You should not need to take a survey to find out this information. Read the posts on this board, look at information online ranking and rating the various online shopping sites. Ask your business office and look at your increase or decrease in sellers, buyers, transactions, profits......... Check with the FBI on the number of Internet Crime Complaints filed against you. Check the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Reports ratings. I can pull some of this from the annual report you produce.

I just took it and timed it. It took me 26 minutes to complete. I answered teh questions as honestly as possible.

I have also completed the survey, but it took me over 40 mins to type the relevant replies where options were given.

However the question about which state we reside in was quite stupid as US overseas territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, Mariana Islands, Samoa etc. etc.) are not included, and "International" should also be available as millions of ebay.com sellers and buyers are non-US based including myself. (Now I chose Alabama as that was the first option and no option of "International" or "N/A" was allowed)

Thanks all for the feedback about the time estimate, and more importantly for devoting your time to helping us understand your opinions and experiences in the Community. Getting this kind of data is really helpful for understanding what's working, what isn't and helping us make decisions for the future. Your time is very valuable, because you could be selling instead of taking the time to help, and we all really truly appreciate it.

It's perfectly fair to say that the community has not been prioritized in the past and as the saying goes, mistakes were made. That doesn't mean we should just throw up our hands and not try to do better - and this survey is a step on figuring out what doing better looks like.

Maybe it's too little to late, but let's not go down without a fight! And there still are many people getting help here every day, who deserve an easy-to-use and helpful experience.

I hope you were able to take the survey, and thanks for your feedback!

All of that qualitative feedback is incredibly valuable. However getting quantitative information is useful too. For just one example, not everyone who gets help from this community wants to post comments, but lurkers deserve a great website too. And it's helpful to know how many people have the same or similar feedback - that helps us know what to tackle first.

Also Its important to mention this survey is specifically about the experience here at community.ebay.com, while other surveys and other feedback channels are used for ebay.com, so this isn't the only method of hearing from sellers and buyers about their experiences at eBay.

Thank you!

Thanks that is really good feedback, definitely an oversight, and will be fixed for any future surveys.

I finished mine earlier today (after having received a copy in email). Can we expect a summary report on your results from each question in the future?

Unlikely that we release detailed data but a summary of findings is something under consideration. Data collected like this can be business critical and not releasable, so that's a call for legal and others - above my pay grade. I will make sure to update if we are able to share any of the insights we learn.

Thanks very much for taking the survey, I know it's time out of your day.

I just filled out about 60% of the survey and it suddenly timed out on me and took me to the very beginning to start over.

No thanks. The survey is as glitchy as eBay always is.

I'm rather mussed right now about wasting 30 minutes of my time just to have it erased

That's not good, but thank you for reporting it. I'm sorry your time wasn't put to good use because of the survey crashing, and appreciate the attempt. If you wanted to go through again and put NA in the open ends, even just answering the multiple choice questions is valuable data. Either way, I know its time out of your day so thank you!
