Why are people using only AI generated descriptions for the items they are selling? They are a totally generic and many times inaccurate description of an item that doesn't give any details of the actual item for sale. Many times I have been interested in an item only to have to send messages to the seller to find out condition or other details of the item they are selling as the description provides nothing. I have decided to stop doing that and will no longer buy from people that only use AI generated descriptions.
You are losing money people! Please take the time to provide a detailed description of the actual item for sale!
Rant over 🙂

They are lazy and/or trying to cut down the time it takes to list something.

Great - more sales for me! I write my own descriptions.

Used it once. It's an insult to everyone's intelligence.

AI descriptions are beyond worthless however the majority of buyers never read the description anyway and for many things it is totally unnecessary, all pertinent info can usually be put in the title, condition notes and item specifics.
Any info that you really want the buyer to see needs to be in the title or condition notes, On the majority of the things that I sell I simply use the title as the description because there is just nothing more to say.

And just as bad are users blindly accepting eBay's suggested item specifics that are also AI generated.
Search results are increasingly contaminated by listings with erroneous item specifics.

As soon as I see certain phrases such as "a must have" I know the description is AI and just click back out.

Every AI description I've seen reads just like the kind of keyword stuffed articles that were great for getting high search placement in... 2006. I'm pretty sure they're detrimental to your placement in today's search.

I agree ... I suspect the use of AI may be by lazy Sellers.
