I received 3 offers for the Iphone I just listed for $320. One offer has a message with the phone# asking me to text him if I accepted the offer and the other two looks suspicious - The location of both buyers were in Canada.
So I accepted the offer with the one who has a message without thinking that this might be a scam.
While the transaction still on “awaiting payment”, lotsof questions came to mind like why’s this buyer wants me to text to let them know I accepted the offer? 🤔 Then I noticed that the buyer is new to Ebay, no feedbacks, no purchases, and i’m trying to locate the address and it’s nowhere to find? 🤔🤔 My understanding is none of us should give any contact info, why did this buyer gave me their cellphone# to text them? The buyer did mentioned “for speedy paypal payment”? 🤔🤔🤔
My gut is telling me that this is a scam. But I already accepted the offer ? Do I have the right to cancel it?

its a scam. scammer wants your email to send a phony paypal email saying you've been paid & to ship. open an unpaid case after 48 hours to get your fees back

and a newbie seller selling phones is a scam magnet. you should not be listing it on ebay. if you choose to list it here, list as buy it now, no offers & immediate payment required. you still risk being scammed out of the phone, when you get an item not described case & they send back a phone book or their old phone & you will still have to refund

Be carefull that you might hit the shark, seens a scam. The phone /email seens to pishing you how? They send a email to add your personal data, a fake Paypal Payment email. Check the paypal real site if the money is there. If not it's a scam.

do not reply to scammer at all. after 48 hours go to resolution center & file a item not paid case. after another 4 days you close it to get your fees back. have no further communication with the scammer

Go ahead and call CS. Tell them what happened. If you get a good rep they can talk you through getting it fixed. Selling phones draws all the nastys out of the wood work. Bieng new only adds that. Next time trust your gut it sounded like you knew not to hit the button before you did anyway. Best regards

There is no need to call eBay. For one, there's a good chance the customer service rep would give bad advice like insisting the transaction is safe (it IS NOT) and that the seller should do as the phony buyer is asking.
Second, it's a waste of time.
