Just had my first ever pick up only sale for over $500.00. Because of the weight and size of the antique porcelain object, I could not ship.
My buyer has paid via Ebay, so my questions are:
1) Do I wait until the funds are processed and deposited into my account?
2) How do I prove that the buyer has taken possession of the item?
3) Any other advice appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Ive had several expensive pick up items with no problems. You dont wait until your funds are processed. That would be a sure way to get a negative feedback. The buyer was sent a QR by Ebay when he paid for the item. You scan that to prove delivery when he picks it up.

1) No, definitely not. As soon as eBay says the payment has been made, you should arrange the pickup. The chances are that the funds will not be sent for payout (to your checking account) until the pickup has been completed.

oh okay... buyers says they are making arrangement to have it picked up.
How do I prove that they take possession?

Read the link I gave you. They have to show you the QR code, and you scan it. That's the only way. No other options.

FYI: You will need the eBay on your phone in order to scan that QR code.

So what do you do if you don't have a smartphone so you can't do QR codes? I had a friend ask me that question and I wasn't sure what to tell her.

email or sign a copy of the eBay order form at the time of pickup.

Aside from the QR code thing they should be given a 6 digit code as well and you just manually enter that instead.

eBay gives buyers a QR code that also has a number that is visible, you can take the code number and add it to the sale just like a tracking number.
In the absence of either eBay recommends having the buyer sign a packing list.
Personally I don't do any of that (but might for a $500 sale).
