People buying my items and not paying

People keep buying my items or I’ll accept their offer and then they will message me saying they want me to text them to answer some questions. I’ll respond back telling them I don’t feel comfortable giving out my number but they can message me on the eBay app and I’m happy to answer any questions they have. You cannot message the person without accepting their offer. So I’ll accept the offer and wait for their response. I’ll wait days for a response and they will not pay so I have to cancel It. Why is it when I buy things on eBay I have to pay right off i don’t get the chance to wait 3 days to make a payment but other people can buy and not pay for days? I can’t afford to wait for days and then have to re-list my item. How can i make it so I get payment right away. I will not ship item until paid!

Yep the folks asking you to text them are scammers. No communication out side of ebay.

Also no added gift cards also a scam.

How can i make it so I get payment right away. I will not ship item until paid!

Run fixed price listings  with the immediate payment box checked.  That means the item is not "bought" until the buyer pays.  Ignore any offers especially those who want you to text them.....that's the beginning of a scam.....

With offers, there is no immediate payment possible.....so you may have to wait for payment......altho most of the offers I accept or are accepted, are paid within a day.

If you do take offers and don't get paid in 2 days, file the UPI......  do NOT wait "days" for payment.

I have had the same problem increase in frequency lately.   Ebay has changed something.  Now the buyers won't even answer the messages or respond in any way.  Even when I open an unpaid item claim there is no response.  I guess people just do this to amuse themselves.  I have 3 items right now that people are not paying or responding to the invoice.  It used to be that when you opened a claim, the buyers would pay right up.  I don't know what changed but there is no incentive for buyers to honor their bids and ebay does nothing to encourage it.  All you can do is block that buyer so the same person does not do it to you again.
