I am selling an iPhone to a customer who contacted me on eBay. He said he would send me the money on PayPal before I ship it out. The money is pending and I will call PayPal to see when the money will fund/clear and be okay to ship. The customer is named Fabio on eBay. And then he sent the money from Jeremy Dungey on PayPal. I asked him why the money was sent from Jeremy and he said that he is a medical doctor named AKINRINDE SAKIRU and he is too busy helping patients. Seems like this is stinky stinky dirty birdie fishy. Comments please

More than likely a SCAM. Only accept payment through ebay.
ebay will tell you when you should ship. If the buyer paid through PayPal it will go through ebay. If you get a notice from PayPal saying you have been paid, it’s fake.

You didn't sell the phone. It's still in your active listings without any bids.
As a new seller with a high-fraud listing, you will attract scammers. Do not engage, don't text with them, don't give contact information. All communication and sales should be through ebay. You never need to contact paypal and you won't get any notices or emails from Paypal telling you payment is pending.
I also recommend you list your item as "buy it now" with immediate payment required. It's not a good idea to do an auction.

100% Scam, you are being set up.
If you received a message about payments involving PayPal it's a fake message.
New seller, high priced phone, listed as an auction.....you will be inundated with scammers.

EBay no longer uses Paypal to process payments.
So what you would see is a Pending Payment in your Managed Payments account.
You did register with Managed Payments before you started listing, right?
EBay should not allow anyone to sell here without registering so that eBay can transfer their customer payments to their bank.
Oh and the guy is a SCAM!!

You got a wonder why a wealthy medical doctor can't just go buy his own iPhone himself? He needs his buddy Fabio and Jeremy to buy his phone for him? Seems obvious it's a bunch of bologna.

Beware of these spoof emails. You need to check all email messages from eBay or eBay users through "My eBay" it's safer that way. Fabio is full of it. Block him ASAP. All financial transactions are through eBay Managed Payments (MP) as others have stated.

There are several things wrong with this situation.
1. You are still in the process of selling the phone. Potential buyer has NOT placed a bid on the item and
is trying to take the purchase outside of eBay which is a policy violation.
2. If and when the item sells eBay will notify you when the buyer has paid and it is time to ship the item.
NEVER ship an item until you have been paid and eBay has notified you it is time to do so scammers
will generate fake messages that tell you they have sent the money
3. You are, as others mentioned, a new seller selling a high dollar, high target item that the scammers love
to go after. You are overpriced for a used phone which is probably a good thing and may be the reason
you don't have any bids yet.
This is without question a SCAM attempt. If I were you I would end this auction now and add the potential buyer to your blocked bidder list. There are better ways to sell this type of item using local forums that have less risk especially for a novice seller. You can also probably list and sell locally for a little less since you will not be paying the eBay fees, the shipping which would be a bit high if you fully insured the shipment. Also if it is a local and personal sale you may not have to charge the buyer sales tax but check your local tax laws regarding that.
One final note write down the IMEI number of this phone and hold onto it along with your original receipts from the purchase of the phone, if you in fact bought it. In the even that you do get scammed or ripped off you can report the IMEI number to the blacklist which basically renders the phone useless to the buyer.

If you are agreeing to accept payments outside eBay's managed payments system, you are violating eBay policy and setting yourself up to be scammed.
And it is against eBay policy for us to advise you about how to violate eBay policy.

You are getting SCAMMED.

@rockindausa
Please NEVER reply to the "text me" scammers who subsequently want your email address. Buyers do not need this in order to use PayPal to pay you. These are not buyers, they are criminals who work the site 24/7. As a newbie seller, you are going to be a scam magnet here for quite some time. This scam attempt, and the "change of address" scams are the easiest to avoid.
It is suggested that, until you get some experience, that you NOT use the "Best Offer" feature, do not accept offers from those that use the backdoor contact seller approach, do not use auctions, do not ship out of the US for high end items, etc. Instead, make a fixed price listing with Buy it Now and immediate payment required. This at least will slow down the first phase of scam attempts.
