I only use PP with eBay so if I download this file it should bring enough data to help me figure out my exact revenue (before fees, shipping, tax, etc). The problem is, when I add up TYPES that say things like "payment received" they add up to $15,000 more than my actual revenue on Seller Hub.

does the revenue figure on SH include shipping? if you ask paypal for payment received it's going to include shipping......

The file contains shipping, fees and all other expenses paid into paypal, but they can be deducted from the total for tax purposes. For tax purposes you should have a separate line expense for actual shipping you paid. Paypal has a separate column for fees. I use endicia and it's charged to my credit card so that's where I get it. I would expect that ebay has this number for you. Someone who uses ebay shipping will no doubt be around soon.

Sorry, don't think I answered your question. Not sure but I suspect ebay revenue takes out ebay fees and shipping or one or the other.

A reddit user says that his Seller Hub does not include shipping. This is confusing. In one Seller Hub module, it shows daily, 7 day, 31 day, and 90 day, and in this module it DOES include shipping (the one that shows the bar chart of your sales).
On another module in seller hub called Seller Level, it shows the total number of transactions and the total sales last 12 months, this is the figure in question. I wonder if it is just sales and not sales+shipping.

You also need to deduct any refunds that you may have issued. In paypal a refund doesn't cancel out the initial payment. It will still show up as a "payment received" and then a seperate transaction for "refund sent". You also take a $0.30 loss on every refund, so that should be calculated into your "fees" expenses.

If you use PayPal exclusively, all the info you need for revenue should be in the files you can get from there. I download one new report at the beginning of each month, for the previous month. From that file it is easy to put all the data into a spreadsheet workbook, sort transactions by type to isolate and get totals for total revenue received (which includes shipping paid by buyers) and all PayPal fees on that revenue, plus all shipping costs paid out (actual postage only, since I pay for all postage online), and returns. I occasionally need to manually account for PayPal revenue given back on refunds. From ebay, I get the invoice amount I pay each month. I manage inventory separately to get Cost Of Goods Sold. I keep track of other allowable business expenses (shipping materials and other expenses). From all of that it is pretty easy to come up with business income.

Alternatively: PayPal produces a handy 2-page "Annual financial Summary" Report that has a line item not only for your total PayPal income but also for total refunds and PayPal fees paid. You can also run PayPal transaction reports on the keyword USPS to get your total postage purchased.
