Hi,
Has anyone dealt with big furniture purchases? I'm selling a Mahogany Corner China Cabinet and a potential buyer is requesting the following:
I really appreciate your response. I'll like to buy this Mahogany Morganton Curved Glass Corner China Cabinet for the exact price of $400, so I will employ you to withdraw it from eBay. I will also like you to know that the payment will be paid via a certified bank check, You'll release the Mahogany Morganton Curved Glass Corner China Cabinet once the check clears at your bank. Kindly provide me with the following information below to facilitate the mailing of the certified check. Your full name to be on the check, Address, City, State Zip code Phone number
Kindly get back to me as soon as possible so the payment can be sent to you.
Regards
Note- Regarding the Shipping, I have a private Movers firm that handle pickups for me so you don't have to worry about that as it will be handled by them, so your price should exclude shipping fee.
Is this normal?
Thanks

@chricar5216 This is a scam, there is no payment. This is all because you have zero feedback ratings and are selling. That makes you a magnet for scammers. What you need to do is acquire FB as a seller quickly. Start selling small items from around your house. Price them cheaply just to sell them quickly. Always leave FB for each of your buyers too. Many times, when a buyer receives FB first, they are more likely to reciprocate. As you begin to accumulate FB as a seller, you will stop seeming like an easy target and scammers will move onto the next zero seller. You can do this, but you need to put in some groundwork first. Best of luck to you....

SCAM!!!
You're a new seller... selling an expensive item. The payments are listed on the listing page and certified checks are not an option. They need to pay you via the Ebay platform payment method.
Then tell them you offer a local pick up. Meet them at the police station and see what they say. If you give them your bank info they will have a field day with your account and rob you. They do not need your bank account number. No pay through ebay?...no sale!. Also, revise your items and take the best offers off. Just do buy it now with immediate payment required checked off. You'll see less of these scammers who are out to rob you.

They didn't make a payment yet, only offered with an option Ebay doesn't accept. It's a scam.

And you will be asked to pay the "movers" because the scammer's check will "include" their payment.

Hi @chricar5216
There would have been nothing wrong for the seller to offer $400 for the item … and asking if you’d accept a cashiers check upon pick up by their agent.
BUT … asking you to withdraw the item from eBay spells SCAM.

Scam!
I had the same response from someone when I was selling speakers on Craigslist.
They had been listed only 30 minutes.

Excellent catch! That's happened before.

Certified checks can be fraudulent. Tell them you will accept a payment thru eBay, or cash on pick-up (which eBay allows) but no checks. Then see what they say. Please let us know.
@ckimodog Hi! I don’t think the buyer asked for the OPs bank info. Could be a legit offer, tho there are a couple of red flags.

No it's not normal. It's a scam.
Stop communication with him and BLOCK him from bidding.

He said I employ you to take the listing down when the word is implore. Foreign scammer?
A bank will accept the certified check and give you credit for it in your account until it bounces back that it's counterfeit and they take the money back. They hope you let them pick it up and haul buggy with it before you discover you've been scammed.
