PayPal taking fees on the state & national taxes Ebay have added to invoices.

I think it is illegal for ebay to add taxes and then PayPal charge a fee on that tax. If Ebay want to add taxes they should be the ones to pay them or charge the state or nation the fee amount.

Since you are registered in Thailand, it is possible that you do not understand various taxes in the US.

Very recently, many states in the United States were given, for the first time, permission by the US Supreme Court to charge STATE SALES TAX on items delivered to about 43 states.  eBay does charge final value fees on those funds.  The state sales tax is determined by the DELIVERY ADDRESS OF THE BUYER.  It is legal.

I have no idea what "national taxes" anyone would be charged.

Ebay had no choice in adding the taxes.........State laws required them to..........

Fees are on the transaction amount which includes taxes........both  Paypal and Ebay and other on line merchants do the same......it's not illegal..........

many states started up with ther taxes in the fall of 2019. many more stated were added in the meantime,

California has a whopping 10 percent tax in many countys.I usd to ship yto many reshippers ther.

all that buisness has dried up,who wants to pay more in taxs than shipping fees when you are using a reshipper.

the reshipping moved to Oregon.my buyers pay no taxes when  they use the oregon reshippers.

most of my Vietnamese and Thai buyers utilize oregon now.

shipping to Thailand directly is simple with edelcon service

Paypal charges a fee for the total amount a buyer pays. They've always done so.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

What you think is not what determines whether something is legal.

If Ebay want to add taxes

eBay does not "want" to add taxes, they are required to do it by state law and a supreme court decision.

they should be the ones to pay them

I asked Amazon, Walmart, Target and Petco to pay my sales tax for me. They all declined too.

or charge the state or nation the fee amount

Taxes are what fund the state and federal governments. That would be like telling an eBay seller who wants to make a lot of money that he should just pay himself a lot of money.
