For this style, I'd use tissue paper.
Two pieces in between front and back of skirt, with a few inches of it hanging below the bottom of the fringe.
Then two or three pieces in between the side and the wrapped layer.
Then another one or two pieces on top.
Fold side to side, making sure the fringe doesn't shift too much, and more importantly making sure the feathers don't get bent.
Then top to bottom third, making sure side fringe doesn't shift too much and feathers don't get bent.
Then bottom to top third, same way.
Then wrap folded garment in another piece of tissue. I'd use a plastic bag, too, just to protect it if package gets wet.
Then ship in a box that isn't too big.
I'd be concerned most about making sure the feathers don't get damaged, so keeping them flat in the wrapping would be the most important.

Great question. I would try asking your question on the Fashion Board if you're waiting too long.

@misitme101 I use dry cleaning bags - slip it over the jacket, lay it out flat and smooth the fringe and lay the sleeves over the front, then gently flip it in half, then flip it into quarters and slip into a box. The bag keeps the fringe from tangling.
If you don't have a dry cleaning bag handy, I would use tissue to rest the fringe atop, another tissue over the entire jacket, then flip in half, the quarters, slip into plastic bag then box. Leather is pretty resilient, but it's good not to have long fringe tangle.

Thank you for your reply. It's actually a suede skirt, wrap around in fact so fringe around bottom & up one side. I just can't figure a good way to pack this. Do I wrap the fringe up first ?

What you do is take tissue, grab a handful of fringe, wrap the tissue around that and rubberband that bunch. Do this all over the skirt, this will keep it from tangling.

These are very good tips, I appreciate the help. Thank you!

Lay the skirt out flat, make sure the fringe is flat. lay tissue down on top. Flip the skirt in half sideways, check the fringe, put another piece of tissue on, then flip again and slip into bag - make sure it isn't packed loosely so nothing shifts. Leather/suede fringe is pretty hardy stuff.
