I received that package back last week unexpectedly. I tried contacting the buyer but received no response. I then went to cancel the order using the reason "Issues with Buyers Shipping Address". When reviewing, it wants to refund the buyer everything including the shipping label cost I had to purchase. Is there a way around this???

You cannot "cancel order" after it has been shipped. To give partial refund...go to ORDERS, ALL ORDERS and click SEND REFUND.

Is there a sliding toggle on the refund screen to allow you to refund the shipping or not?

Unfortunately no, I also just checked in another browser and on the phone app to verify as well.

Don't do anything. Put the issue back on the buyer for now. Wait for them to contact you.

I would not do anything until I heard from the buyer.

This is the correct answer. Go to the order, click the refund button and make sure the slider switch is turned so the original shipping is not included in the refund and proceed. If by chance you don't have that option you can also do an order level refund for the sale minus the shipping amount. Put a note to the buyer stating why you are refunding.

Actually yes, you can cancel an order after it has been shipped.

That is what I was thinking, I just don't know how long I should wait. At this point I have made several attempts to contact the buyer and it has been over about a week since I received the package back. At what point do I attempt to refund the buyer and relist the item?

Part of it may be correct but the "You cannot cancel order after it has been shipped" is incorrect.

I know this is an option but does not mark the transaction as canceled so was thinking buyer could potentially complain that they did not receive their item. I do see there is an option for Buyer Return and can do a partial refund so this may be what I need to do. Just did not know if it needs be done this way or by cancelling and how long I need to give the buyer before I do so.

just curious.
Have you googled the address? What does it look like?
reviewed the buyers profile? did they become a member the day they bought?
Did you ship with signature required?
Was the package marked unable to forward or more of unable to deliver?

I did after the package has been returned. It is a business address that is marked permanently closed on Google maps. Signature was not required, it is low value. Users feedback is over 100 and some within the month. Package was marked Return to Sender - Unable to Forward. I attempted to contact the buyer several times over the past week and now have issued a partial refund (item cost) only with a detailed note as to why.
