Package return

Hello everyone!

I send a package to USA and it got turned back with a sticker that says:

Return to sender

Insufficient  Address

Unable to forward.

I did put the address that the buyer had written!

Also this buyer was buying from me first time ever on ebay and it got the first review from me!

What am I supposed to do now?

Thank you!

Re: Package return

Refund the buyer let them know their address was insuffient. Relist the item, if the buyer wants to buy it again their address needs to be correct.

Re: Package return

Minus the shipping of course, as the shipping money has already been spent.

Re: Package return

Give the seller a partial refund, everything MINUS what he paid in shipping.

Do this BEFORE he files a INR (item not received) case.

Once the buyer files a INR case you will be unable to do this.

Don't assume the address was bad or that the buyer was at fault. I have had items returned for insufficient when the USPS simply made a mistake.

According to eBay, the $17 belongs to the buyer, because he did not get the item he purchased.

Re: Package return

I have another question about this issue:

The buyer paid 40$ , the amount I received from ebay after fees and ads was 29.80$.

So I have to refund the buyer 29.80$ - 17$ shipping cost = 12.80$

Am I right?

Re: Package return

First question. How far did the package get in the shipping process? Did it initially make it out of Albania and to the US. What does the tracking information show? Second google the buyers address and see if you get a valid shipping location in the US. If so this was probably a carrier delivery error. Did you purchase and print the label through eBay or was it a hand written label and you paid the postage when you dropped it off with the Albanian postal service?

Once you have checked everything on your end contact the buyer with any issues you find. If everything appears to be correct you have a couple of options. If the error is with the delivery service contact them and try to get the item resent at no additional cost and let the buyer know. If the error is on the buyers end you can refund them minus the shipping cost you incurred. If they still want the item once they have corrected their address you can relist the item and they can purchase it again. If there is an error on your end you need to fully refund the buyer.

Re: Package return

The package did arrive in the US.

I did pay the postage,I cant buy a label through Ebay!

I wrote the address as given from the buyer!

I contacted the buyer and he admits that he made a mistake!

Now what should I do with the refund!

The buyer paid 40$ , the amount I received from ebay after fees and ads was 29.80$.

So I have to refund the buyer 29.80$ - 17$ shipping cost = 12.80$

Am I right?

Thank you!

Re: Package return

You state "I contacted the buyer and he admits that he made a mistake!". If the buyer admits in a message he made a mistake with his address. You don't have to refund shipping cost to him. If he made the mistake in his address then he should pay the shipping cost. Because your shipper is still going to charge you for the label.

Actually you should deduct your all your costs when calculating the refund. If the total amount of the sale was $40 then

eBay fees = ($40 * 12.9%) + $.30 = $5.46

Shipping cost = $17

Your total costs = $22.46

Refund to buyer = $40 - $22.46 = $17.54

This does not factor in any eBay FVF's on the state sales tax the buyer paid but on $40 that is probably minor.

Re: Package return

Ebay fees are 7.22$ on this transaction!

So it should be $40 - $24 = $16 refund?

Thanks

Thanks. The difference in my initial calculation and your fee number would be the fees on the sales tax which I could/cannot see. So yes the buyer refund would be

$40 - $7.22 + $17 = $15.78

Re: Package return

So,I am trying to make the refund but I don't understand this:

I put the amount of $16 and it says -2.98 fee credits and says $13 amount I owe!!

In this case they will charge me only the $13 or $16?

Thanks
