Hello,
I have a buyer who notified me the item she purchased, an iPod, arrived missing.
The package was damaged - it looks like it was sliced open.
The iPod was rolled in several layers of bubble wrap - the bubble wrap was still in the package.
When I track the shipment via USPS, there is no note regarding damage.
I don't sell very often, and I've never experienced anything like this, as a buyer or a seller, so I am not sure what to do.
I've been in touch with her all week & phoned the USPS. ( The information they gave me wasn't very helpful )
She told me she will give me until Monday to refund her payment.
What am I required to do?
I appreciate any advice you can offer.
Thank you.

I was associating your use of "strike" as it applies to UPI. "Strike" as in a return case is usually called a.............gulp...........defect. Thanks for clearing it up.

What does the buyer's feedback for other sellers look like?
There might be a reason they are pressuring you without opening a case. I form an opinion on a buyer's truthfulness right away when I have an issue. If they truly didn't get their item, why would they not be opening a case--doesn't smell right.

Have you replied to her yet that this needs to be looked into first by USPS and the Police and you will be filing with both tomorrow and that she should keep all packaging for inspection.
And that someone will be contacting her shortly. And then thank her for her cooperation.

Stop responding. The number of emails is excessive, and pushy. This is getting worse, and the buyer appears to be the problem the more you reveal about this situation.
Do what Emerald stated above.

If she does open a case, come here immediately for further assistance.

"The Buyer has emailed me three times in the last two hours."
All the more reason to bone up on what's being posted. Once a day is a red flag! Three times in 2 hours is the kind of red flag waving you see in Pamplona!! Don't fall for the bull.

Yes. Several times, and I did contact USPS. They told me there was no report of damage to the package. I just filed a postal tampering report.
Good. Inform the buyer that you filed a mail tampering report and that she needs to hold on to the packaging for the Postal Inspector to pick up. Don't say or do anything else.

This.
Then just wait. Don't get into a load of more emails.

You all have made me laugh. Thank you.
I appreciate your feedback & will certainly post back as things progress.
eBay should hire you all as their customer service task force. You're great!
