PSA authenticators are not accurately checking the description of the cards they are authenticating

i just recently had a $3,000 gold star charizard card i sold here on ebay, denied by psa authentication, saying the card was authentic but that the card didn't match the listing due to a crease in the front middle of the card... but here's the thing, i did describe the crease in my listings details, as well as took multiple pictures at different angles of the crease...and even sent extra pictures privately through ebay messenger where we clearly discussed the crease....here's the kicker:

so after having the card returned to me by psa and ebay, i resold the card again with a $400 loss for $2600, but this time i put the details of the crease in all caps and reiterated the crease, as well as used the photo of the crease sent to me by the psa authenticator... and included printed out photos of the listing so there wasn't another mix up this time around... and now its been at psa for a week... when its suppose to be 1-2 days for authentication.

How does it take a week to authenticate a card that was just authenticated a week ago?... maybe someone else could help me understand.. am i just being impatient here or missing something!

After this experience of selling i will no loner be buying any collectible, i feel greed has corrupted this once amazing hobby.

If you're selling expensive cards get a scanner.

It has baffled me for years how PSA retains their status as #1 TCG grading co..

If it comes back again like that you should contact eBay CS on facebook or insta and express you're concerns. Regular help channels will be absolutely useless in this situation.

I will say the couple things I've sent there took about 5 days.

yeah that's what i'll have to do, i contacted ebay through chat today and they were nice, but no real help at all, i'm already out nearly $50 from insured shipping from the last time around, if i have to eat another $50 ill have to do something further...and if its going to take a week each time i send a card they shouldn't say they are "backed up" but should change there suggested turn around times to one more truthful,

i have a feeling it will only get worst, from the literal extortion level fees, to the recommended 16%  ad boost fee.. which seems like a pay or else have your listing blacklisted feature, to the floating of my 3k card in the mail for a month due to either incompetence or sabotage, i feel as though the writing is on the wall... ill be putting my money else where

breaking news... it gets even better,

now a super saiyan goku card 125 holo foil card, that i bought on ebay authenticated as near mint, then just resold last week,

was determined to have fuzzing around the edges and doesnt match the description.... the same card that passed when i bought it does not pass now.

i have never once taken this card out of the psa card saver or the or the penny sleeve, i truly feel something funny is going on here, i could use some help...

The best way to make money during the gold rush was not to look for gold. It was to sell goods and services to the people who were looking for gold.

@jsageau-16  eBay and PSA are both currently being sued by someone who bought a  ~$53,000 card he alleges had a defect that the seller hid on the listing by altering the image and it wasn't caught in authentication.

eBay CEO Jamie Iannone has also been taking some heat recently after laughably saying in multiple mainstream media interviews that "to his knowledge" no counterfeits have ever passed through eBay authentication centers.

I know that doesn't really help your specific situation, just giving some context as to why eBay and PSA may currently be being overly cautious/erring on the side of rejecting things, even if  they may have previously allowed them to pass.

I'd never sell anything that pricey on ebay or anything that had to go to one of their authenticators. Just too many issues reported over the years.

@jsageau-16

After looking at your listings I would say with pretty good certainty that the issue with Charizard is the condition box stating LP. Even with eBay's loose condition standards, the chipping on the back border combined with the wrinkle at the top definitely put that into Moderate Play. It doesn't matter how accurate your description and photos are to the card, if the condition box is not correct it will not pass authentication.

As for the Goku, I have no idea. It looks pretty near mint to me and even if it had the "fuzzy edges" from a dull cutter that was fairly common with holos of that era, it would still be in NM condition IMO.

And good lord stop paying to promote. Never listen to ANY recommendation eBay has. There's absolutely no reason to promote rare collectibles. Buyers of the stuff you have will find them just fine in search.

hey appreciate the valid points,

i could see that with the charizard, but if that's the case then they should've mention that the first time they declined my card for authentication, instead its just been siting there since last friday, after it was already just authenticated a few weeks back, and i reached out to the buyer today and he hasn't heard anything either.

i appreciate the insight on the goku as well, anyone who knows dbz ccg would understand that, the picture the authenticator sent me looks like a glare of light...no joke...

its a good point on the promotion i as sort of thinking the same thing myself

yeah i get it,  after this whole process i will be getting out of the collectible game as a whole, not what it was a few years ago, it seems like my time and money would be more better spent elsewhere

Just thought i would also mention that i am at 40 sales in the last few months, all pretty high value items...   with not a single return initiated against me, except for by psa....
